Yeah like i said there are good ones, and more good than bad, but its also peoples perception, a performance that you think was great/good/acceptable, another person says was crap, it all depends on whether people have the blinkers on... and in my opinion a lot a people, not necessarily on this forum, because most peolpe here seem to be knowledgable about the game (maybe even you zed), but the loud percentage only see what they want to see when it comes to umpiring

Cheers custard, I've had to fill the void again lately, might still be there for the local derby. I think that you'd go pretty well at it when it's time hang up the boots.

I agree LM, apart from last sat umpire in the reserves for us, the standard of umps have been pretty good. I do agree jabber with the comment about players 9/10 saying the umps cost them the game. Speaking from a players perspective, the only thing about umps that sh*ts me is when they change their attitude if a player gives them a serve over a decision. Up until about the 3rd qtr last weekend decisions were being paid when they were there. After our ff blew sh*t up the old bloke for a wrong decision WOS got more frees for the remainder of the game than ive had cooked meals. I have been an umpire in previous sports so i know how hard a gig it is (id never umpire footy ever!) but surely changing the course of the game because someone gave you a bath is not on....
now thats just one incident. each player sees things differently. I personally have no probs with an ump if he gets a decision wrong, it happens whether it be because he was in the wrong position or what not, but it is slightly frustrating when the whistle is blown for no reason or when umps try to assert their authority on the game.
In closing tho some players and spectators dont do themselves any justice so it goes both ways.......
