Thought that might stir the pot slightly!!
The Plympton Football Club (under the banner of the Plympton Sports and Rereation Club, with which i am a committee member of) do not pay any footballers. Unless it was not put in thier budget for last year (naughty naughty). There may however, be a cartel of slightly well off members who throw in some each week to ensure players like Jim Smith are Plympton players.
Clubs pay, don't pay bla bla bla, doesn't matter really, as long as plympton don't grab some trophy hunter who only wants to hang around for one or two years and doesn't give a rats about the club. The best thing is that with a guy like jim, he actually has the club at heart.
Jim captained the 17's a year or two after I did i think, took them to the GF and then a flag then went off to the bays and then get a bit of coin with other clubs while he was studying i think. Good bloke.

It's a common business trait that you do not disclose what you earn to other employees and to run a succesful football club you need to run it like a business as they say. No shame if it does go on, good football side and it will only get better imho.
This on going debate about whether clubs do or don't pay players cracks me up . There is nothing wrong with it and 90% (if not more) of the clubs in the SAAFL do it. You have your head in the sand if you don't think it goes on. The good committees are the ones who are able to pay players with not all of the other players knowing about it. Makes for a better football club if the financials are not common knowledge. Well said LK. You may well be right Bulldog and Plympton don't pay, OR they might pay - only you don't know about it!
