Lutheran were too tall and had too much run for us. 9 scoring shots each at half time. AL 6.3 to HV 3.6. We created enough chances in the first half. Blew us out of the game after half time. I think with a 4 quarter effort we could match them. I will be interested to see the Plympton v AL result this week (in all grades actually)

Looking forward to the "twilight" game @ 5.15pm against North Haven this week.

Well done to the HV captain on selecting "scissors" to decide which way we kicked in the first quarter!!

Yeah we are to, can't wait. There's going to be a few guys coming out tomorrow night that are keen for a run in the C's. It's going to be awsome, we have one against Elizabeth in 3 weeks aswell.

wooohooo sleep in might be able to stay awake past 8pm on a saturday night for a change

Good win by lutherans.. played better footy all day... we were very wasteful most the day... got within 2 kicks in the 4th. however never really looked in it for most of the day... we had majority of the footy in the 2nd and 3rd but to Luthies defence was really good... Luthies like dropping a tall in defence loose and that hurt us alot in the 1st half...

Umpires can't wipe the score apparently as they are only club umpires (not associated appointed ones), scores stands as noted and the SAAFL will then wipe the score after reports from the umpires and both clubs. Well that's what the great Brian Price said.

Score will end up the same as the scoreboard, just a little paperwork to do.

Our umpire was a league appointed umpire but i think you correct the rule was changed in the last couple of years.

Yeah one of our guys Kailen, went on to the field at the start of the 3rd quarter accidently. So just a luck of communication between player and coach.

the week previous when we played adelaide uni they started the 2nd qtr with 20 on the field but they were only 1 goal at thge time and they had rectified it as quick as they could but was tough for us to man up when they had a lose man in defence and up forward but honest mistake and only c's(g grade for them haha) these things happen

33 COUNTING OF PLAYERS
33.1 The captain or acting captain of a team may at any time during a match request that the field umpire count the number of players of the opposing team who are on the playing surface.
33.2 Where such a request is made the field umpire shall stop play at the first available opportunity and call into line, within the centre square, the players of both teams who are at the time on the playing surface and count the number of players.
33.3 Where the team has more than the permitted number of players on the playing field the following shall apply:
(a) field umpire shall instruct both goal umpires to record the scores of both teams at the time of the player count.
(b) A field umpire shall award a free kick to the captain or acting captain of the opposing team which shall be taken at the centre circle or where play was stopped, whichever is the greater penalty against the offending team:
(c) A fifty metre penalty shall then be imposed from the position where the free kick was awarded; and
(d) Upon completing the count the field umpire(s) should ensure that each team has the permitted number of players on the field prior to recommencing the match
(e) The field umpire as soon as practical after the match, report to The League that a request has been made to count the number of players in a team and the number of players actually counted.
(f) The League shall determine whether the offending team shall lose all points which it had scored in the match up to the time of the count, and if so determined The League shall have power to vary the scores of the match and/or provide such other penalty as deemed appropriate by The League.

Considering our umpire was a league appointed umpire - perhaps he needs to read up on the rules. Score should not have been wiped. North Haven were 3.6 at the time of the head count. No harm done and an honest mistake. However, perhaps if we had lost we might feel differently about it..

Maybe the 19th man who shouldn't have been on should be punished by having to change the light globes in the changerooms

i think been like that for at least 5 or so years
Basically the side with the extra player would need to have gained a major advantage before the count for the score to be cancelled
and as most sides work out quickly if the other side has one extra probably wont happen to often
grab a free kick and a 50 and move on - just make sure you ask for the count near centre half forward ;)
