I was having a conversation with 2 young lads from Portland on the weekend. Lets call them fat and skinny. They were raving about how much coin their own down at Portland.

Fat and Skinny ? Never heard of them, but i know Thick and Stupid...i reckon they are the same blokes...

Not being argumentative Felch, but which players, other than Ryan Byrne, do you think cost us 3-4 goals in difference this year?

Ryan Byrne is the main one, and the other Byrne - im told he can actually play, but yet to see proof . Also Waltham has been injured for a reasonable chunk of the season, right ? There is a few goals right there. Dont forget, Byrne kicked a sh!t load of goals last year. From what im told, Choimes has not had the same year as last year either. Also, blokes like Waltham and Nicholls are not getting any younger and common sense would tell you that they would be less influential as each year passes. Obviously, throw Roo into the side and its a different story. As i said Jimmy, i havent seen a single game of D4 this year. My opinion is based solely on looking at who was playing this year and last. Possibly not the best method to gauge an opinion, but its the only way i could.

Do you think you are better or worse than last year ? Would PAOC 2008 beat PAOC 2009 ?

I'll leave mine until the end of season because we are still playing, but I'd say 2009 would beat 2008 comfortably even without Roo

CBCOC have stepped up a mile compared to last year and I said that on here at the start of the season after I'd watched a few training sessions
Fitzroy are much better than last year

Hasn't Roo been named as AFL Finals Ambassador for 2009?. Not sure what's involved with that but you would think he may miss because of it......either that or he's out fishin again

Just thinking about that a bit more - it would be a cracker of a matchup between Byrner and the one armed bandit - I'd pay money to see that!!!!

Div 4 Prelim.

Paoc v Fitzroy by 5 pts down on campbelltown oval is a new neutral venue & this one to go right down to the wire with a place up in Div 3 at stake & the Dolphins are in the GF waiting to take on the winner of this one.

Div 4R Prelim..

Golden Grove v Pooraka by 24 pts the Bulls to cause an upset as they will be too physical for the Kooka's in this one & the winner to take on the Red's in the GF..

Div C4 Prelim...

Golden Grove v Adelaide Uni by 36 pts slight hiccup for the Kooka's last week who have been the best side in this Div all year & they will get another crack at the Red's in the big one next week...

seen Fitzroy for the 1st time last week. Number 5 in the midfield was fantastic Pooraka gave him to much room and front spot, 12 and 13 were also very dangerous but do like to run fwd of the ball. the roys 1st half was very good 48pts up. 3rd 1/4 pooraka hit back and the lions panicked a touch. 13 pts at 3/4 time. if the rain didnt come again i think pooraka may of ran over the Lions.
Best 2 sides i seen was Cbc and PAOC they are tall, quick, stong and well drilled. Fitzroys FF line will be good 1 on 1 but maybe a bit heavy and slow

I think Div 4 is actually stronger this year than last. I am confident that CBC would have accounted for Mitcham and Portland of last year, this is no disrespect to these clubs, they wre both worthy grand finalists, its just an opinion that i will obviously never be able to prove either way.
CBCOC look to have only added a few players but are clearly the most structured and disciplined side in the comp, thier defensive set up is very sound. ( i guess this is what you would expect with a coach with these credentials).

A little harsh on Golden Grove and Greenacres........Golden Grove finished just outside the top 5 and I think their best is as good as PAOC, Fitzroy, Salisbury West and Pooraka. They just didnt have their best forward and took some time to adjust to a strong div 4 comp.

I agree with turk... GG missed the finals by 0.7% and had good wins against some of the higher sides as well as some losses we 'had to have' The step up was big but I think GG and Greenies held their own and will continue the rivalry in 2010.

Fluoro definitely aint my colour but I run so fast it'll just be like a blur to anyone on the sidelines.....
