I have just re-read from page 1 the post "Ovies to self destruct" and must now say that there are some incredible facts starting to evolve and a fair bit of "humble pie" to be eaten by a few blokes.
On page 6 Feb 16 2008 Rupert wrote about not wanting to say "I told you so" and this was confirmed by NM on Feb 17 with the comment, "I think you will be".
On page 7, TT wrote about the damage that would go unseen until the following year, how true!

I suggest that all of the interested people go back and read the posts again, then maybe you will then realise that the original post may have been put forward by a person who actually did care about the future of the Ovingham Football Club

Aceman, I have spoken with "04 Prem coach" who is back in town and keen to help out.
And dropped your name, so maybe you'll hear from him too.
I will be meeting with him and others on thursday to nut a few things out.. so I guess i do have a bit of yelp left in me.

Old Moz.. what I have in my signature is none of your concern and I don't care if you think it looks bad or not.
For starters I am not a quitter, I was appointed caretaker coach, have had a 5/6 week association with this club, was coaching absolute strangers, know none of the history etc etc and still turned up each week on a voluntry basis.
When no one standing infront of me on thursday night is willing to put there hand up, what are you suppose to do.
I was appointed by Chris Newmann, so whether I know my footy or not, could be viewed as more of his mis-management.
Make your own mind up.. as many have here already.
I will be there thursday and would love to continue.. but it will take alot of dedicated ppl to get them over the line.

Care to put your hand up to help out Old Moz?
Good Luck Ovies!

I heard an appeal on 5AA's sports show tonight for donations to erase a $4,800 debt and save Ovingham. Is that debt really insurmountable?

It is when you don't have the money! And if you did the problem wouldn't exist.

They fielded 2 teams early in the season so I'd be guessing around the 50 mark. I believe a few have since left the club for whatever reason.

I did go to the club Wattle.A few things were said and the situation has become a little clearer in terms of the damage one Chris Newman has done to the club. The word is that all the money from the bar has been going straight into his pocket. Not my words but those of people at the club.As for the coaching job I would say that plenty of blokes could do a better job than me,but I may be swayed to put my hand up for a role in the running of the club.It seems that Ovingham badly needs Ovingham people to get on board and save the club.

maybe the 20 'club men' who left the club after losing a GF in 07 should come back aswell. I can see people pointing the finger yet its water off a ducks back no doubt if someone brings up those that left when it all got to hard. I must say it is good that people are willing to support now but where was the support when they 'supposedly' knew what was going to happen down there.

They did what a lot do, turned their back on the place because they never thought it could happen to them, but guess what, it did! You might want to go back and read from page 1 the article about Ovies self destructing, it is now happening.

what im saying is, if the so called club men that left when Newman and the tribe arrived had of stayed(being so called 'club men') the club would still be strong. From what I know Newman wanted the club going forward and the blokes who left wanted to stick low in scrubbers divisions.

So did the money go missing, or fines and that never paid? Has someone"s pocket got a bit heavier?

One thing that is certain, it didn't go to the SAAFL to pay the money for "calls" and "fines" that were incurred through lack of adequate organisation by the people in charge of the club.

NG or anyone else involved at ovingham...Whats the moral like around the club at the moment? looks like momentum is building off the field just wondering what the general feeling is down there?

will you see this season out with 2 teams on the park or not enough numbers around?

off the field we are kickin goals, we're startin to get things in place properly and get the bills wiped out which is a good thing! that same morale isn't as prevalent on the field however. we do have enough numbers to field two sides, the question is do they wanna rock up and play!
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

are you guys going to get 2 teams up for the last home game for the year? obviously the more people there = more chance to make a few $$

maybe crank a BBQ and encourage the opposition to hang around for a drink or 2
