i think been like that for at least 5 or so years
Basically the side with the extra player would need to have gained a major advantage before the count for the score to be cancelled
and as most sides work out quickly if the other side has one extra probably wont happen to often
grab a free kick and a 50 and move on - just make sure you ask for the count near centre half forward ;)

We did and the resulting 50m penalty put the player at the top of the square! :D

North Haven were 3.6 at the time of the head count. No harm done and an honest mistake. However, perhaps if we had lost we might feel differently about it..

Maybe the 19th man who shouldn't have been on should be punished by having to change the light globes in the changerooms

 Theres no chance of him doing that

A few interesting results this weekend.. Lutheran over Plympton, and Heccies over Uni's being the 2 suprises for mine. Having played Heccies last week, im not suprised they have come out and won, but I didnt expect it to be against Uni's.. Lutheran are a very even side, but I thought Plympton would play there ground better, but well played Lutheran, and deserve top spot for now..

Flinders had a solid win over Elizabeth, first half was some of our better footy this year, being about 9 goals up at half time, mainly thanks to the service we were getting in the midfield from our ruckman, he was brilliant in the first half. However when he went down injured just after half time, the game evened up a bit and ELizabeth kicked 4 goals to nothing in the third qtr, but we steadied in the last and ran the game out well..

Was impressed with the set up at Elizabeth, good size changerooms and ground was in good nick, very impressed indeed..

Very much looking forward to the bye now!

Ha Ha good one there Duncs!!!
Yeah he isn't our normal ump but gee the standard of umpiring is terrible. It's either too full on or an absolute joke. Without being impartial your bloke listened to your players in the back line. As soon as they said holding the ball he gave it. Not the first time this has happened this year though!!! Tough gig in the lower grades!!! Funny thing though i had one of your young lads come in for a job interview yesterday, may just give him the job too!!!
Anyway bud yeah nice ground very similar to ours so good luck and see you in a few weeks at our place.

I dont really like to slag off umpires, especially at our level, but the Elizabeth umpire on the weekend was, well, mediocre at best.. Confusing both sides with some decisions..

The sooner we, as players, remember that its not AFL footy the better, the amount of times a game you hear 'he dragged it in' is baffling.. If the umpires start paying holding the ball for players dragging the ball in, its going to be mayhem!

Is it the same bloke that umpired the first C Grade game against plympton? I found it really hard umpiring with him, some time was spent midfield where i wasnt sure if he or i were in control of the play, which resulted in some frees not being paid, or both whistles blowing... thank goodness when that happened we both called the same decision!

And holding tha ball in lower grades should be almost non-existant unless you take on the players.

I love when umpires think that b and c grade footballers are AFL standard and pay holding the ball if someone touches you for a second with while you have the ball.

If it's Paddy, he is extremely quiet and thinks by patting himself on the backside means it's over to you, it makes it hard when you are watching the play.

Yeah thats the one, paddy, nice old bloke... I'd give my left one to be running around at his age. Just not the greatest ump when patting his bum while running toward me, doesn't really help me alot!

Hey Duncs what was your game against Brahma like??? Their ump couldn't control a game either!!! With both of them it would have been chaos!!!
One funny thing i did see at our game on the weekend, there was a huge dog turd at CHF before the start of the game and your ump actually picked it up with his hands and threw it over the boundary line. Didn't wash his hands and then threw the ball up to start the game. I couldn't believe it!!! Lucky i didn't get too mant possies hey ;)

This shouldnt be a problem in the future as we will be taking up the leagues offer to provide an home umpire in place of our previous umpire.

When the committee discussed the option of going with our current umpire or going with a league appointed umpire this was one of the potential issues we raised but felt that having an umpire who was more in control would be a greater benifit then one who didnt take any control.

In the end i think we chose what we felt would be the lesser of the two evils.

I can add that as the coach I would prefer umpires who have no perception of cheating plus it is far better as you dont get club umpires in the finals - not that we will make them - but it does get the players used to how a final is more likely to be umpired by SAAFL umpires

I must say that I have been impressed with the C5 player attitude in just playing footy despite some questionable umpiring at times - having the ability to grab a SAAFL umpire will only take out the last perceived problem of umpires cheating
