Dutch my main man I am aware of this but believe with the recruits they have gained plus the players returning to the club they’ll be top 2.

Like who? Looking at the clearances only see mostly B/C graders?

Wasn't half their A grade last year guys from Mitchell Park's B grade the season before? Based on that alone I struggle to see them being a genuine contender.
Marion have a trial game against Adelaide Lutheran in late march
So i guess that will give us a gauge of where we are at.
No one at marion is talking premierships. Just be good for the boys to win afew games.
This year is definitely the best we have looked in the last 10 years ive been around the club, how that translates in to div 7, i dont know.
Bit of a mixed message I see here. 1 minute your sayin it will be good to win just a few games. Then you say that this is the best your team has looked in 10 years. That says something doesn't it?

Yeah it says they've had a difficult period in recent times and finally getting players back and looking to win a few games and have a degree of success a the club.

Don't know how you find any mixed messages in that.. but then again I shouldn't be surprised.

Take it how you want.
Just because we are looking better than we have the last 10 years doesnt mean we are
Going to be around the mark in div 7. Just showing improvement

The word is the Rams are giving the salary cap a huge nudge and Lonsdale are paying about a third of their player budget from last year. A handful of players that were on big $$ have left. I guess they had to pay big money to attract average players when they got pumped by 25 goals each week. Marion might be underestimated a bit.

Just because they're paying, doesn't mean they're paying quality..

So around 40% then? Even 20% is absurd for this division.

As long as it all above board and within the rules, then it does matter what a club is paying, does it?
Having said that, i doubt marion are paying any more than most clubs.

it might be in the rules, but spending 40% of the cap in D7 is a bit like the dude that brings his own balls, clubs and caddy to the mini golf course at Glenelg.

Its social football down here man.

I vividly remember playing in our one (horrendous) year of C Grade in D7.

Salisbury West was fielding a couple of blokes getting paid more than anyone in our A Grade. It was a debacle
