Has anyone run into problems with the new APPS yet.... does anyone care yet??
A couple of clubs up in a higher grade have had an increase granted by 2 points each. Another was knocked back with their request.

Giving sides extra points just opens up a can of worms that can so easily be avoided by just saying no.

I agree on that for the most part. But what about the situation where a group of mates want to move to a club together. Are you meant to potentially lose those guys looking for a club because you have to tell them "Sorry boys but at least one of you is going to have to play B grade every week because we can't fit you in under the point system"?

If so, would his brother Peter fly the coup as well?
Personally Peter would walk into any div 4 teams half-back line.
Massive loss for the hounds who would be hunting a 3peat this year.
cant wait to play them to see what they're like.. any tips Duncs?
Hahahahaha nice tryThey've both been to every training... And James is captain again.

I'd have Unley and Heccies at the top of my betting market, Greenacres were up there but maybe to drop off a bit if Goldsmith, Newchurch, Sansbury, Rigney etc are headed elsewhere.

My ivory tower? Haha. My point is zed, is that if they grant a couple of clubs a couple of extra points, what's to stop another couple going and asking for a couple more, and a couple of others going and asking for even more again? Where do they draw the line? At least if it's the same amount across the board it's consistent for all clubs and everyone knows where everyone else stands.zedman wrote:Pag wrote:I put this on another thread, but I'll reiterate my point again, no SAAFL clubs should have any reason to apply for extra points. you got a real hard on for these apps dont ya?..dont forget that this was dumped on us all with no notice of it being introduced in 2011..its ok for you in your ivory tower passing judgement on other clubs when you know you have juniors and stuff all points..of course there has to be leeway this year...just like all the other leagues that will agree to points increases because of the indecent haste it was chucked at us..strangely the sfl clubs also got told if they didnt agree to the points system all the other leagues would rate their players as zero..sound familiar at all??? we have all been played by the same game..

and it ends after 2011..one year of grace..if you think bringing other clubs down around you will make your club better thats a petty way to gain contrived success..
any club should be able to put in for extra points this year for the reasons i wrote above..it was rushed onto us..it was blackmail by the CFL..and other leagues WILL grant point increases..
i have no problem with APPS..it will be good for all the leagues but you need chill out and except that clubs had no knowledge of this being made law in 2011 till 3 months ago and hence must be given some slack in the first year..even the CFL understands this and has agreed..but not you..i wonder why?

You didn't answer my question about where they draw the line but that's OK.
How am I bringing other clubs down around me? I've got no power mate, all I'm saying is that all clubs have had the same timeframe on knowing about the APPS, all clubs are given the same amount of points, and all clubs are working within the same system. How can it be any more fair than that?
FWIW, I don't think any clubs in Div 4 will have issues with the APPS anyway.

Where do they draw the line in 2011? If Club A asks for two extra points, and Club B asks for four extra points, then Club C asks for five extra, where do they stop? And for example, how do they decide if clubs are 'deserving' of two extra points but not four?zedman wrote:Pag wrote:Vindictive? Like I said mate, I don't think anyone from Div 4 will go asking for extra points so I doubt it's going to directly affect us anyway. But I would be very surprised if any clubs will have a case like Hackham or Aldinga, and you can see other SFL people already getting out of place with Marion and Morphy Parks already asking for handouts (how Marion have been given more points than all of them is staggering, simply because they waste money on recruits).zedman wrote:its a can of worms already opened by other leagues..the saafl will also allow clubs to put in dispensation claims..as they should..you will just have to suck it up for another year..no reason why it would need to go on after 2011..one year of grace for the indecent haste it was put on all clubs in the middle of recruiting..sounds fair to me..and you would have to have a strong argument to get extra points it wouldnt just be granted..as per the SFL applications we have seen already..

That's just something the SAAFL doesn't really need, but if it happens, it happens I spose.
