Yeah fair enough,

Principally, my key points are:

1. The standard of umpiring in the SAAFL is not good enough - for a myriad of reasons - and should be improved
2. They are nowhere near accountable enough for poor decisions and performances
3. We have developed a culture of over protectionism of umpires - which causes a myriad of problems and limits our ability to address #1.
4. Umpires discussing teams and their reputations with a predetermined course of action is an abject disgrace - but a long held suspicion.

Gee you're a know it all d$?k head Morell. You clearly love the sound of your own voice. Yes you are the king of Morell world, but please restrain yourself from imposing your endless babble on the rest of us. Heaven forbid when someone challenges you. That's when the childish personal attacks happen. Have the rest of 2014 off.

Mate you obviously haven't been to man of my games that I have umpired. I umpired nearly all of the games this season gone and not one player from the opposition complained about any decisions I made or didn't make.

Gee, Sorry DO IT DO IT, please let us know your opinion.

Wouldn't be much of a discussion board if everyone just kept to themselves or were 40 post machines such as yourself.

What would you like to discuss?

And see Jetters, I told you people cop sprays in every day life!

Fair attack there - clearly someone feels a little threatened because he can't understand Morells intelligent posting.

How about you have the rest of 2014 off....and 2015 :?

Well thats awesome mate, one of the good-uns.

And for what's it it's worth, a lot fo the time it isn't even the individual umpires fault. They can only do the job they're physically and mentally capable of...

FWIW - we do now have a full time umpires manager.

You may or may not know him, some guy that did a little bit umpiring called Richard Williams ;)

Your clubs will now have a first point of call with someone that actually knows the rules like the back of his hand. Not to many that would know more than him.

Hmph! Didnt know that. Sounds awesome FC! Good stuff.

Is his role more on the rules and implementation therein side of things or the management in terms of resources and development? Or both?

First request from this black duck:

Address the issue raised by Starky (and this isnt a criticism of you mate) around umpires having preformed prejudice of clubs and to judge each game, non call and free kick on its individual merits. :)

Once and for all its local div 6 footy. The umpires probably complain just as much about the poor standard they have to officate.

I think the umpires at this level still have a very good interpretation of the laws. For me, the issues arise when they make a decision 50m off the play without a good view, and that only comes about from a lack of fitness. But you've just got to get on with the game as a player, as it's not like we're all specimens of supreme fitness ourselves.
