Hey Pag, how's Liam Short going out at Salisbury? I tried pretty hard to get him to come across to Hope Valley. He's a very loyal person and wouldn't budge. I hope his ankle holds up and he has a big year for you guys. You wouldn't meet a nicer bloke!

I seriously don't think I ever have met a nicer bloke. The ankle seems ok, been training since Christmas and looks pretty good. Might get eased into the season, was a very nasty injury. How do you know him mate?

Went to school with him and was in a wedding with him just before christmas. I saw the photos on his phone of his ankle when he first did it. It was nasty alright!! Shame he didn't get to play in the GF though. I guess that's footy!

Yeah it was a shame, the club did everything they could to include him, he got an official medallion after the game and everything which was good. Not the same, but he deserved it more than most. Top bloke.

It appears very quiet down in the Flinders Park area, anyone got any news to report. Has the new coach been able to recruit anyone, I think he had a bit of trouble in this area at his last gig?

From what i have been told he has been getting a helping from players that dont make the cut at the eagles. Some are tied with lower amatuer clubs too.

What is Pesch's role if Jackson is coaching? From memory he didnt play much (if at all) in 2006.

Pesch played and coached in 06, was an assistant at the Eagles last year though, so if he's playing this year you'd think it would only be part-time unless he's given the Eagles gig up.

Pesch is playing with Flinders Park Full-time and has given the Eagles job away and will not do any coaching with Flinders.
The 07 Coach will also play on with Flinders which I think says a great deal for the club, two previous coaches returning to play for the club.
There are also a couple of other rumblings, will find out more in the coming week.

So how is St Peter's looking this season? According to the poll people don't think that much of them!

Of course, these polls are more of a popularity contest than an actual prediction on who will do well.

They can't be taken anywhere near seriously.

I'd hazard a guess that a lot of the SPOC boys have better things to do other than sitting on here throwing numbers around about how much Kilburn are paying their players!

I havent heard too much about them. They had a lot of good young players last season (and a lot of young potential A graders in their B grade) so I would expect them to improve on last year. However, I cant see them playing finals. I have no doubt they will seriously struggle whenever they have to travel north of Grand Junction Road with 2008 shaping up as a particularly high standard season in Div 3.

correct panther
sick of hearing about the so called big money kilburn are paying
yet there is no substance i have read yet by anyone to support it
just a lot of inuendo, maybes, and ifs
get on with talking about footy, not kilburn, not money and anyway they lost 12-14 to greenacres what do you think they were going to do, not recruit
and to let the small minded people out there know i understand they signed another 2 this week, so i reckon they would be up to at least 20 new players now

I dont know why Kilburn gets such a hammering on the forum. Maybe it was because they had so much success a little while back that their performance in 2007 was enjoyed by so many (as would be any further failure on their part in 2008).

At the end of the day, not many clubs could turn around the type of diabolical season Kilburn had in 2007 so they had to act pretty drastically so as to not find themselves down in Div 4 or 5 pretty quickly.

thankyou orts
yes as soon as a club in kilburns predicement go out and recruit, it automatically suggests they are throwing money everywhere
sure no doubt they have paid some highly named players some money, how else do you think they would get them
no where here has it been said they have recruited 5 players because they have also got them jobs and are playing for nothing
guess i am lucky because i am in the know a bit there, and you are right you either hate them or love them
by the way before i take a heap of stick 2 of the players i have employed

Kudos to you for helping out the club with extras mate, it attracts footballers for sure! Goodluck to Kilburn, lets keep it real though, I am related to three new players they have signed this year and wish them luck, good to see their proactive in getting away from div 3 as quickly as possible. Its going to be a cracker in div 3 this year and Im predicting there is going to be a couple of clubs that are deadset unlucky - neck and neck but only two go up!
