Do people realise that the AdFL works to the same rules as AFL with 20 min qtrs and time stops not just for scores but also out of bounds. Then if you get a field umpire who is keen to blow time off when it may notalways be required then you can get some long quarters. That NH v MP game yesterday had a 4-11 last qtr so some key facts missing from the post that suggested "just 3 goals". If there was some slow ball retrieval from all those points plus some extra out of bounds and likelihood that umpire calls time off more often late in a close game then to suggest any MP skullduggery is a bit harsh. Anyway, clubs should have a timekeeper for home and away games, and should never put trust in just one person doing it in A grade footy.

Eagles2014 - The surrounds of Brighton Oval have a habit of gobbling up balls from scores and out of bounds when balls go beyond the boundary fence so we will put that game v GG down to being one of those.

I notice no mention that Roos captain wend down with minor neck injury which took about 4 minutes for him to be treated and leave ground ... the umpires did not blow time on untill he left ground ...hence long quater ... also the Morphettville time keeper attends all games but we have only once had an opposition time keeper at only 1 off are 5 hm games.

Not worried, just asking for clarification of a rule about time on etc.

After such a great close game between 2 teams that fought down to literally the final second, to suggest any impropriety from any time keeper, let alone MPFC's, is a slur on his name.

You got the win, so no need to bring it up at all. No one from our club has jumped on to the keyboard to have a whinge about 1 other aspect that had more affect on the outcome.

Why wasn't there 2 timekeepers in the box? Surely this is a league requirement?

Encouraged, but not a requirement.

Yep it's certainly a quirk and something I found strange coming from a country comp in the mid 00's. Reserves and below grades it's flat 22? Minute quarters so less open to manipulation but in the A grade very open to some shifty activity and looking back on it the would be some games I recall as questionable.

Dutchy - One thing refreshing with the AdFL is that they place trust and faith on clubs and club officials without the need for "volunteer overkill". I mean why should both clubs supply a timekeeper in grades where quarters are for a fixed length of time. We always provide a timekeeper for A grade games which is a legacy of our SFL requirements, but many clubs don't bother when they are the away team. A little dangerous in my book as alluded to a few posts back but seems to be commonplace.

Brighton led the change of how interchanges were recorded in the SFL a few seasons back and the AdFL interchange requirements are even less onerous with only send offs, stretchers and blood rules recorded on a card which is usually just handled by the home Team Manager. Umpires grab that card if necessary post-match and enter what they need to plus their votes on a Match Day App. All paperless!!! That App is a SportsTG App so could also be used by the SFL Umpires.

Clubs still have to print out team sheets pre-match but post-match is also paperless with the usual entering of scores and adjustment to team sheets needed to be completed to certain deadlines and that's it. Nothing has to be sent into the AdFL. Our Secretary is much happier with the AdFL match day admin requirements. ;)

Hardly volunteer overkill for a timekeeper to monitor the clock from each club, especially important for games involving time on where accidental mistakes/errors could be made.

Once you account for all the other required volunteer roles, adding an extra for a timekeeper can begin to stretch things.

Over the years i've found generally away team leaves it with the home side - most coaches monitor quarter lengths anyway for rotations - but if the game is close then they'll find someone to head over and keep an eye on the time keeper.

Daly from Smithfield - 10 games. Hierarchy wouldn't be pleased after the hard work they have put in over the last few seasons.
Hopefully no issues with previous sanctions etc.

If you look at the League table for the worst Tribunal Ratings you'll find North Pines, Smithfield and Salisbury West up top. The three original clubs with AAAs whose behaviour was near faultless under the AAA, but 1-2 years removed would appear to be at least sliding backwards.

I maintain that there's a reasonable argument an AAA should be the standard conditions of affiliation for all clubs.

Modbury would be right up there wouldn't they?

They're prominent but not the worst. With Modbury you need to keep in mind they have 6 sides (5 seniors and an 18s). Whilst they've had some incidents they regret given the sheer volume of footballers they're putting on the park each weekend in raw numbers it's not as bad as some clubs with only two or three sides

Hopefully it's not the case coz it doesn't reflect greatly on them but is it pure coincidence they have had a long term suspension which also coincides with them having their toughest season (ladder wise) since the sanctions have been lifted.

I hope that's not the case coz the club has made amazing strides in recent years and it would be sad to see a couple ruin it for the rest
