The B grade boys got us off to the ideal start with a sketchy 6 goal win. Salisbury West out-played us I thought for most of the day except a patch in the second half but their lack of a big key forward let the good work of their back 6 and mids down. A good win for our B's considering we didn't play at our best.
In the late game our A grade boys got their first win for 2012 in a hard fought game against an under-sized, young Salisbury West side. As their B's did they played their ground well, used good skills and switched the play well and their straight kicking kept them in the game. We had a good size difference over them in ruck and up forward and this helped us get over the line and gave our boys alot of confidence. Had we kicked a bit straighter we could have put the game away earlier and 2 late goals before half time kept them in it. Salisbury West will win more than they lose this year and for a small side really had a crack.

Love the quote on the bottom choccies. I too love grapes and grapes make wine, and I love wine. :D

I once saw a wino eating grapes and I was like "Dude, you have to wait...."
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Jets 'merger' appears to have had a positive effect, a and b's both two from two i think. Coach debuting on radio, didnt catch it but am sure it was gold. Did Sullivan come from Mitcham? Mates move or was he recruited. Is Skoblyk still running around for them?

Coach Troy Hall was excellent on the radio on Saturday Gameday. Well spoken and seems like a good bloke

Here are the scores with my thoughts on each result.

13.14-92 Hectorville def. Elizabeth 9.4-58
Hectorville go 2-0 after a tight win in round 1 over Plymton. Elizabeth will be dissapointed with a second loss after narrowly missing out in Rd1 against Salisbury West.

11.4-70 Greenacres def. by Unley Mercedes Jets 14.18-102
After impressing in their win over Scotch in Rd 1, UnleyMerc show why they are the Div 4 favourites in many eyes. Greenacres go 1-1 after an easy Rd1 win over Para Hills

14.19-103 Pulteney def. Para Hills 10.10-70
Para Hills showing plenty of fight but outclassed by a fitter and more talented Pulteney outfit. Ian Perrie once again the key.

14.5-89 Salisbury West def. by Golden Grove 16.15-111
After a dissapointing Rd1 loss to Pulteney at home, Golden Grove return to cruise over the line against a very young Salisbury West side.

18.14-122 Scotch OC def. Plympton 6.13-49
Scotch using Plymton to show that they are to be taken very seriously this year. Plympton 0-2 after a dissapointing loss to Hectorville in Rd 1.

An interesting round which leaves us with 3 clear front runners in UnleyMerc, Scotch and Pultney. Golden Grove sitting close behind will be looking to build momentom against Hectorville into a possibly season defining Round 4 fixture against Scotch.

Round 3 should provide some predictable results but with many players returning and sides starting to gel, nothing is certain.

Heccies vs Elizabeth was a close one as usual, from the sidelines seemed to be a pretty physical contest. Once again heccies accuracey has to be questioned, could have kicked 20+ goals (weather permitting obviously). The eagles never-say-die attitude saw them kick a couple in a row late in the game, hopefully they can jag a win this weekend.

Love a good triple header at the daly dome and once again well done to heccies and elizabeth for making a great day of it, canteen seemed to be busy all day and the famous Hectorville Kransky's kept us warm when the rain set in (accompanied by a brew of course)!!

Hearing big raps on Unley and Pultney so looking forward to seeing them in action!

Good to see James O'Sullivan is getting a few goals for the Jets...I remember him playing for mitcham and not being able to kick a goal from 10m out directly in front...must be something in the water on the other side of belair road...Didnt rate him out at mitcham though...seems though Jets are getting their moneys worth

Correct Fred.
Nothing going on at all, Darryl had to step down due to work commitments.
I think you will still see Darryl at the club just not as President.

Scotch up convincingly in A and B grades.
Elizabeth couldn't keep up the shoot out after quarter time - I think 14 goals kicked between the sides in first term.
Final 10 minutes of last term saw Elizabeth close the gap, making margin less than it shouldve probably been.

A couple of rather suprising results yesterday in Heccies beating Golden Grove at Harpers Field and Greenacres being to strong for Pultney at Morgan Oval... 2 grounds that have been proven to be very difficult to win at in recent seasons. Maybe people can stop puimping up Pultneys tires now cos they reallt aren't that good. Just sayin

Girardi didn't play yesterday, but Viney kicked 7 goals in his absence, Chris Barrie yet to play this season also Chad Harper first game for the year. I'm sure there are other players missing also from their best 21.

Had to dig rather deep against Para Hills to get over the line 2 weeks ago so maybe Greenies stretched them too far?

We hear the same thing every year.. So and so is out, so and so hasnt played many games etc. We are missing something around the mark of 8 of our last seasons best and fairest top 10 and they arent coming back but we get on with it. When our boys lost to Unley, not once did they come up with the whole 'we have so and so out, so that's why we lost'. Alls Im saying is what I said a couple of months back. Maybe Pultney just arent as good as people thought they would be. ;)

Didn't realise that the Wayback FC played in SAAFL Divison 4.

All I'm saying that they are no where near their best 21 yet, plus with a new coach and recruits it is always difficult early on in the season.

what happened to the golden grove player who injured his collarbone on the w/e? From what I heard, he injured it just before half time, walked to the side of the field and stayed there and an ambulance was called. Teams got told that we would play until the ambulance came and then the match would have to stop to allow the ambulance to get across the field. Ambulance came with about 10 minutes left of the 3rd and the game got delayed by about 15-20mins. Another ambulance was then required and we were told we would play and the game would get delayed again once the 2nd ambulance arrived. Teams got in position to play and the 2nd ambulance arrived and game got postponed for another 10 minutes. Heard the player was from north reserves as well.
