Plenty of nervous energy, last time I played in a GF I asked my boss on the Thursday if I could have the Friday off as I couldn't focus on any of my work duties, I didn't get it.

Yes big Scudds could play a bit.. I think its great the level of play being shown in the lower grades, had a few Div 2 guys say that was of the same standard on the weekend which means things are heading in the right direction

It probably does to some people to gauge whether the competition is getting stronger or deteriorating. Good Luck this week mate, I wont put the kiss of death on you guys so I'll leave it at that.

i agree LM. i think Pulteney and WOS on their day would account for GG/Greenies more often than not. possibly GG with that big bloke up forward from 2008 (can't recall his name) would have caused them both some grief though.

no it doesn't really matter that much one eyed, it's was just a question out of interest since i had nothing else to contemplate at the time. what it does indicate though is maybe div 4 will be more even next year than div 5 over the last two years. i think div 5 went up another step this year.

Scudds was the front-end loader for GG, good call, it's allright for 1 eyed, he still has something to talk about, we have to find stuff no we're out ;)

Yeah, it wasn't at my home club though, I played at Salisbury West in 99 and 3 games in 00, I totalled 17 games without a loss in Westies colours including a div. 4 premiership, I can't complain, they were good to me. I had pretty bad ostio-pubis for the whole season aswell, it was agonising.

I said in my previous comments that I beleive div 5 this year is far stronger than previous years. When SANFL U19's goes under alot of those 18/19 year olds are playing in the higher divisions than last year and spots get taken, so players leave and go to lower ranked clubs. It's a flow on effect from div 1 down to div 7. Other comments label the top tems in div 4 the best in a long time and Brahma Lodge are probably the best side going around div 6 since Elizabeth in 2005, the depth in div 6 this year shows the top 7 sides to be more even than previous years. Also in 2005 div 5 was red hot with I think 8 teams in contention.
I beleive there is no favortism with playing previous finals at St.Marys. Here is a stat for you, Pultney have never lost a match at St.Marys Park....

Only one team in the Top 7 divisions last year played in the Prelim and won the Grand Final - WOS. All other teams that had the week off were victorious on GF day.

IMO when any team goes up a division they will notice a change in the speed of the game and fitness required to be competitive.
Lack of fitness is exploited by the better teams, mistakes are punished severly and players ability or lack there of is discovered.
Last year both GG and Greenies had very good full forwards who both kicked over 100 goals and proved to be a nightmare for opposition sides, this year in div4 neither team had these players (Scudds out with injury for most of the year and Forth back to the country) and both finished middle of the table (GG very unlucky missing out on five by less than 1%) but even with them playing still would not have consistantly matched the top teams this year( I dont think).
Each year we went up a division it took time to adjust to the intensity of that grade.
Any team/club or player that thinks going up a division will be a walk in the park may well be in for a rude awakening...and in the worst case may find themselves relegated.
Thats the beauty of our system...it works
Opinions and bumholes..you either have one or are one IMO

For the record here is why I said my comment

Top 5 in div 6
2009
Team Gms W D L For Agst Pts %
Brahma Lodge 18 17 0 1 2693 1292 34 67.6%
Colonel Light Garden 18 13 0 5 2166 1304 26 62.4%
Trinity OS 18 13 0 5 2078 1401 26 59.7%
Hectorville 18 12 0 6 1993 1253 24 61.4%
Lockleys 18 10 0 8 1988 1371 20 59.2%

2007
Team Gms W D L For Agst Pts %
Golden Grove 18 16 0 2 2154 1080 32 66.6%
Blackfriars OS 18 15 0 3 2135 1298 30 62.2%
Hectorville 18 12 0 6 1811 1223 24 59.7%
Hope Valley 18 12 0 6 1920 1436 24 57.2%
West Croydon 18 9 0 9 1860 1777 18 51.1%

2005
Team Gms W D L For Agst Pts %
Elizabeth 18 17 0 1 2940 1041 34 73.9%
Kenilworth 18 14 1 3 2634 1310 29 66.8%
Central United 18 14 0 4 1828 1423 28 56.2%
Westminster OS 18 13 0 5 2075 1453 26 58.8%
Lockleys 18 10 0 8 1765 1647 20 51.7%

For the record in all 3 years the bottom side in the competition had a team in the teens % wise,so it works out very similar. I know its a div 6 story however I just wanted to explain why I wrote my comment :)
