Hey Lightning, Blackfriars had a huge impact on our club as we lost a whole U/17 side that moved to Blackfriars the same happened in 2004 with our entire U/17 side going to St Pauls due to school ties even thou they did all of their junior football with us in both cases.

Too many sides weakens the talent pool. As a result we lost a lot of players that would now be playing in our A & B grade. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

OK, I see your point, maybe they were just taking the easier options by playing in lower divisions. We lost 26 players to Angle Vale this year, it gave us the opportunity to re-build and get plenty of youth playing seniors. We have come out of stronger and with a better, more disciplined future.

Don't know about juniors, but if their As keep the same side they will finish top 4 minimum.

the juniors are strong..the question is wether the mums and dads who live in edwardstown and surrounding areas will travel to the south for the juniors..on a saturday as well i believe..they play atm on sundays with msjfl

Two words - Southern expressway.

A trip from Edwardstown to Aldinga for the u/14's at 8:30am on a Saturday morning can be done in half and hour. SFL also has a sunday u/14 and u/16 comp.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

It would be good to hear what some Edwardstown supporters / players or officials have to say about the proposed move?

Or, isn't there many out there on here?

will players leave, will old players be attracted back.? I think you will find players will enjoy the atmosphere and numbers at SFL games. There are some strong rivalries around!

Players still know nothing as far as I know.

Spoke to the Metro South General Manager today, and said that the cost benefit of being in the SFL to the SAAFL was a saving of around 10K per year   Also some hurdles with the junior set up as they are all under the one banner as the Edwardstown Football Club

heater31 that is correct, from the Metro South point of view we want to know what is going, we are planning for next year now and need to know what Edwardstown are doing. They can still stay in the junior comp but there are some things that they need to do.

I think you will find it will be to their benefit. Unless something has changed in the last year or so, no club can be affiliated with more than one league. Now with their juniors are a separate entity, they will be able to keep their juniors in MJSFL and seniors in SFL.

not sure how that could be as we didn't clear anyone from broadview until this year, two older blokes who were not under 17's. i'd say the impact was greater on fitzroy.

yes, Fitzroy was impacted- not so much by the older players, but certainly the younger ones (who still had fresh links).
Will probably have a residual value with Fitzroy too- we'll (potentially) keep losing ex-juniors to Blackfriars OS

Excuse my ignorance if already mentioned, but if Towns defect to the SFL, does that mean that the second bottom sides from div2 to div 6 2008 stay up ?
