Only problems I have with Portland is the size of the changerooms (although they are well-kept), and having the club down behind the goals. The other end doesn't too have a whole lot of atmosphere with the club situated where it is, but in general, I like playing there. Awesome canteen too, and we had some jugs put on after which always sweetens the experience.

Yeah, the position of the clubrooms has it's good and bad points. Once again, they had to be there as that was the original position of the Rivvies rooms. Remember, Alberton United and Rivvies used to share the ground before 1997.

It's great, as a home side, kicking towards the clubroom end in the last quarter of a tight game. Always plenty of noise and atmosphere down there, especially if a grab is taken in the goal square.

or some abuse if they miss a goal rom 10m out!!!

TBS, our oval may not be the best in the SAAFL but it is far from the worst. Does the fact the last time Kilburn played there they got smashed by 40+ goals have anything to do with your reasoning????

At least we dont have to fight the locals to try and get on the oval to train or have the police patrol the clubrooms because of violence between the club and the local African community...

And as for abuse from the supporters, have you never been anywhere near the outer (or clubroom side for that matter) and heard the suggestions from the KDF???

We will keep the bashings of coach's after a GF loss for another day

Yep, we lost by 40 goals last time we were there. It was a shit heap well before that though. We get another shot at it this year anyway, you should introduce yourself.

No problems with the African community, they are great.

You probably got abused for being a big girl.

Ill keep an analysis for GG/Harpers field as a whole facility for when the new club rooms and change rooms are finished (April 09)

I think we are spoilt with our surface though. Gets trashy on the outer wing late in season due massive by a stack of juniour sides but the second oval over the back should fix that soon

Yeah ill back ya on that 1, nice oval.
Surprised noone has said it and i know im biased but Argana Park is beautiful to play on all year round. Great trees all around, Quality ground, turf pitch always comes up a treat durin cricket season as well.
Id say the worst iv played on would be Kersbrook, Brahma lodge (anyone remember in 06 when the lines were painted around the soccer goals lyin on the sideline!!!! haha) and Kenilworth, too frickin big and cold!! lol

Watching the Lodge push the soccer goals off as a pre-game warm-up was gold. I've always liked playing at Argana Park but I don't take my kids there to watch, cars travel too fast around the narrow part on the western side, these are normally from the soccer. It would be great if they could take the oval in a little so there was some grass where you could plonk your chair or a rug.
