David Green has been voted off the executive, with 49 clubs agreeing to let him go.

messy business that was. felt like an ultimatum in the end, one goes or a few go.
it was handled in the best way possible tonight.
there was no winner in my view just lots of unanswered questions.

Sprinter, did you feel clubs were pressured to vote against Greeny after this came to light?

you had to give the decision some serious thought based on the question posed from the floor about where to if he was voted to stay.
yes two stood and answered and gave their reasons. at least one other shook their head

indicated they would not stay.

it should never have got to this stage. impartial third party mediation to resolve outstanding issues should have been put in place before it came to the clubs to vote on.
it may not have made a difference to the end result but at least it would have ahd a chance of being resolved before becoming public.

I think that mediation through an outside agent, whilst being a good idea would not have worked. IMO the decision had been made long before the delegates got to vote on the motion.
Not sure if the dog is wagging the tail or the tail is wagging the dog based on what I witnessed last night. MS looked as if he'd seen a ghost and he probably had!

Ace I dont think that enough clubs realise that SAAFL staff are actually employed by the clubs not the other way around.

The sooner more clubs realise this and act accordingly the sooner we will have a stronger league.

At present I feel our comp is being run more like a dictatorship than a democracy

You are on the money there Turk with your first point, not sure about the second one but I bet there will be more to come out of last night's meeting. DG had done his homework and would have sent a couple of flutters through some exec. hearts with a couple of his revelations.

Greeny's old man Jack was a trainer at our club for a long time and has a perpertual trophy named in his honour at our footy club. Not sure if Greeny ever played with us or anything, he may have, but he is at our presentation night every year without fail to present the award named after his father, which is appreciated by a lot of old guys I think.

Pag, Greeny did play footy at Salisbury. Regardless of how relationships ebb and flow, out of respect for his old man I would imagine David will be at Salisbury to present the trophy as usual. Some things are bigger than daily issues we get involved in.

He was doomed from the outset!
Plenty mate, it was a "fait accompli" and they had to go through the motions to be seen to be doing the right thing.

are we allowed to ask or discuss why and over what this all happened yet ????

Absolutely nothing to do with food of any type, a bit more like, "he said, he said back, he said again and I'll do this' and so on. Much too involved to write up on here, speak with your club delegate for an indepth response.
