the amount of times i saw this last night throughout the grades was mind boggling to say the least! No disrespect to the guys that won medals but geez takes some shine off if you ask me!

I dont agree, i think its good the umpires notice the efforts of an individual especially if his side is copping a flogging.

I remember having an argument with a fellow club ump a few years ago when i was umpiring a b grade match, plympton won by about 25 goals to 1 and the opposing umpire was trying to give votes to one of his players, i said that his side would have struggled to have a player in the top 10 players on the field.

He then told me that he always made sure that both teams were represented on the voting, no matter how one sided the score was!!!

I told him that he was a dick head!

 Sounds like he is exactly that
Thats what im talkin aboooouuuut!!!!!!

Its for the BEST 3 PLAYERS on the ground and in my opinion you would find it hard to pick 1 from a side getting flogged like that

So if a bloke racks up a million possies, clearly wins his position, runs hard all day, is at the bottom of every pack and his team loses by a mountain load you wouldnt give him a vote? i wouldnt give a bloke a sympathy vote but if i felt he deserved it i would. then again im not an ump and i dont know how they think :P

These awards are meant to be for the"Fairest & Best" player in each grade so it shouldn't matter if a team wins, loses or draws the game, votes should be given in order of 1st,2nd, & 3rd Best & Fairest players in each game on that day.
Simple really but rarely happens I would suggest.

There's no award for biggest pest.... ;)
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

If they play better than the top three in the wining side then they deserve the vote. If a side wins by 30 plus goals i would suggest that the best 3 players on the ground would normally come from the winning side. Giving one vote to the best player from the losing side seems like a charity vote to me unless they were one of the best three on the ground.

=D>

Also agree & main thing to consider in all of this, is that it's the umpires interpretation of best and as they struggle interpreting our great games rules every Saturday, how the hell can they pick and interpret a top 3 in a game

How many votes did Richie Sambora get Keepit?

Polled well in what was an ordinary year.

Not to sure if I'm looking in the right place but I went on the link and the only info it gave me was the TOP 4 for each club and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters. Is there anywhere we can find a list of all vote getters or even better a 3-2-1 for each round??

Each club was given their breakdown of votes. Every grade & every vote per club. Could you image how much space would be taken up if SAAFL put all that information on the website???
If you are so keen to find out how many votes you got - then ask someone at your club for the information that was handed out on Wednesday night...
