It was merely an expression of interest form to see how many clubs would be willing to bring juniors over next year and which grades.

It wasn't a legally binding thing at all..

You'd have to be an idiot to even contemplate it individually, you'd be ridiculed by the league that you are already in, it would have to be zoned and monitored closely, the SAAFL would have to employ the same people that are currently running the respective leagues.
The NEMJFA is running well and I can't see how it could be improved by clubs joining the SAAFL, further travel to meetings etc.

It was simply a form, asking for a guide of what junior teams a club may have in 2013. This included the Under 17/18s which the SAAFL already run. If clubs do eventually decide for the SAAFL to control junior footy from next year onwards, I guess the exec would wanta rough idea of the magnitude of teams/kids they would need to cater for.

At the last NEMJFA delegates meeting 6 clubs were for it, so I'd say 16 or so against.
The more worrying thing to me is if CF get their way & cut all clubs into 9 zones, we'll be back to the good old days of 50 goal beltings year after year.
Gunna be an interesting couple of years coming up.

The Exec last night also made the statement that it is prepared to sit with any club committees, senior/junior to discuss any aspects of this proposal and answer any direct questions that clubs have

Takes about three times (that's being generous) the volunteers to run juniors than 3 senior teams, & parents aren't exactly falling out of trees to help (more like hiding behind them) eh Locky?

You're right - not a lot of volunteers running it either

Was it 16 clubs against or 16 Junior Committees against it, huge difference S.Y. ;)

I thought it was just a form asking for number of junior teams for next year? Now it's a proposal?

They have released a proposed model document at this stage only, believe more will come to light after the next meeting where they can gauge the actual interest in this

Is is true they want to run all juniors, not just under 16's.

Well it would be remiss of them if they didn't want to make more money, however, they are looking into it because the clubs asked them too. If the clubs said don't look into it when they were asked then they wouldn't be.

incorrect the fact is that it will costs less for Clubs to nominate their junior sides then it is currently - it is being done for the benefit of Clubs

The proposal is $200 per team for U/9 down and $400 per team for U/10 up - no player registration on top
perhaps look at what each club pays now to whatever association they are in per team and make an informed decision about the financial side of things

Be interesting to see if it goes ahead. Say a club nominates sides from U6 through to U18 with this proposal, yes alls sweet, then 5 weeks out from the start of the season

oh sorry we dont have enough sides in the U10 and U12 comp so we wont be running those grades.

Then you have the problem of trying to run a club playing within 2 different Juniors comps, that is if team reg is still open in the other junior leagues.

Where will all the umpires come from with such an influx of teams, will they still be paid at the rate they are now for Junior football or will there be an increase.

Personally cannot see how you can only charge $400 per team from U10-U18.

$200 for U6-U10 surely not when there are moves to just make those grades totally Auskick orientated.

Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.

Our Junior Committee is holding a meeting re all of this again tonight and we will then be meeting with our senior delegate on Friday night. Hope he has a number of hours free

We have 5 teams in NEMJFA this year and it cost us $1700, under this model it would cost us $1600 a mere $100 saving, not really worth the effort to leave a more than capable group that is dedicated to Juniors only!

Although the same 5 teams last year in CDJFL only cost $650!!!!
This was a profitable league run by Volunteers only, I guess it costs our club about $1000 to have paid administrators now.

We won't be wasting our time filling the forms in, we'll stay in NEMJFA thanks

If you have 5 teams that is $1,000 for team nominations plus $20 per player - does that mean you only have 35 players to play in the 5 teams?

If your 5 teams have on average 20 players in each then you would have paid 100 x $20 - $2,000 just in player rego fees

What are you talking about EM?
$1000 for Team Nominations, There is no team nomination fees at NEMJFA.

there was a club nomination fee and that was only $100 per club which I did forget about.
plus the $20 per kid,

so our total was actually $1,800.
