I may very well be an all seeing Oracle but when and how we announce the new coach (whoever that may be) isn't up to yours truly. Rather, the Slug, Abraham, Bum Salad and Alfie.

I have received advice from The Slug that we do have a preferred candidate but are unable to make a formal announcement until the paperwork is lodged and ratified by the committee next Thursday.

Suffice to say we are all genuinely excited.

I actually had lunch today in a lovely little Scottish restaraunt with that preferred applicant. He's more excited than you. :D

Brett has previously coached B grade football at Phos Camden, before taking on the role as senior coach at the Lockleys FC.

He has spent the past 3 years at West Adelaide where he was the league assistant in 2016.

We welcome Brett, his partner and young family to our great club and looking forward to the future.

very good appointment CLG, have been involved with him at Westies the last 3 years and his knowledge is fantastic, he will attract some quality players also.

Fantastic appointment and well done to MP getting Wayne on board. Take out the personal association and talking footy, Wayne is a brilliant coach and has a fantastic footy brain. Will work very well at MP and has a fantastic record with junior sides and the success he's had already. Good work MP and all the best for next year.

Wayne is the right fit for Mitchell Park at the current time I have no doubt. He will help bring the playing group together, create a level of stability and send a consistent message across the club as a whole - everyone will be pulling in the same direction, and hopefully Mitchell Pk will rediscover the consistency they need to remain out of D7 in future.

May not bring players with him, but has the gift of the gab and will help in securing sponsors and players if they're put in front of him I'm sure.

Good luck MP and HBF.

TBH that's probably not what we were after anyway. We've done that before and been sucked into moderate short term success but its fallen apart one or two years later and we've had to go back to square one. 2013 says hello.

We need to rely on the club itself and the networks therein to recruit players and not just getting a coach and his band of merry mercenaries for one or two years. The selection panel made it very clear that this appointment is about 2019 and 2020 as much as 2017.

Having said that I am sure Wayne has a cutla names in his phone that'll be getting a call ;)

and it would be remiss not to also congratulate Ben Weekley on his appointment as B Grade coach. Very sound football mind and already popular amongst the playing group. He'll be way better than the schmuck they had this year.

We'll miss him on the field but glad the little fella is still involved.
