can someone tell me about johnson from flinders park who tied for the medal? his name was regularly in the best players, but in my opinion the best player by a mile for them this year was smithy each time we played them this year. and hopper?? good player but not near the best player in his team, let alone div 3

D&C Agree with u re: hopper. Pretty sure he is the raggies skipper and captains seem to poll well probably cos the umps are too lazy to put any thought into their votes. Would hav thought Coffey would hav polled more votes.

Wonder if the raggies will choke this week? Big monkey of last year to get off their back.

I think Coach Barabas may be cursed. Coached a Norwood U/17's side to 16 consecutive wins. They then lost their last two minor round games, still finished top and then went out of the finals in straight sets.

In 4 seasons at Uri's he coached them to 3 prelim losses and a GF loss. The following year the new coach took over with the same group of players and won a flag. Very good coach but seems to get struck down with the coaches curse come finals.

Go to medal winners announced Topic -

Swingman Comments On Hopper - Harsh but True

Everyone at Raggie land know how important this game is to the club -
Similar to when the power finished minor premiers & went out in straight sets in the finals & then won the G/F the following year. Hopefully Athelstone have the same outcome.

I have no need to brown nose but i personally rate Tod as a coach & think he is the bloke to take the club to G/F & win it.
I didn’t know Tod's past with finals series - On paper it doesn’t look to good.
Don’t you think for a bloke who has coached for so many years & still hasn’t won a G/F he is dying to win one.
Let’s see what happens on saturday - Should be a great game.

I have played under Barabas previously and he is one of the best coaches I have ever played under. Was not meant as a criticism of him or the Athelstone Football Club. The Raggies are long overdue and I think they will go all the way.

There is no man who deserves to coach a side to a premiership more than Barabas.

Personally I think it dissapointing that they didn't program a triple hedader with the c grade on saturday. Would have made for a rgeat atmosphere.

And well down to Super Phil Noble - Reserves medal winner depsite only playing 10 games!

Barabas will be gone next season if he delivers anything less than a flag.

I have heard he is not at all popular with the playing group. In fact a couple of players absolutely hate him.

Just the word on the grapevine.

I really do hope they make it to the GF this year. If they went out in straight sets again and got a new coach, they would be absolute favourites for next years flag. I dont think there is any other club in the grade that can match their playing list.

Hey Turbo, I know your a smosh player so maybe you can answer this one for us.
How is Luke Porplycia with his hamstring - Will he be fit in time for saturday.

A triple header would have been good but what crap to play all year at 2.10pm & then for your first final to play at 10am - Some players arent even out of bed by then.

Cmon turbo, dont hold back - Let us know.... Il tell you this much Malcolm Grossman wont be right this week but will be right in a fortnight's time. He will be handy for the club.

Agree Turbo great work on noble's behalf and it was my decision not to play sat morning as half the side has taking sunday off so alot are working saturday. You dont play a Second semi final at 10 am. too much at steak.

Luke trained tues night so he should be ok.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

"I like your style Orts", with the double-barreled fingers shot. lol

I wouldnt expect him to tell me the truth - his the opposition.
he plays for SMOSH & im a one eye raggie supporter.

Ive Strained/aggreviated more hamstrings then ive had hot dinners & if he has slightly aggreviated it he is atleast looking at missing one week.

Heres your scoop.

Porplyzia out for season, but not with a hamstring.

Club has suspended him indefinately and has been told not to return until he gets a wig.

Lukey, the lord of the cats.

I'll let ya know what number I am when i find out what grade I'm playing.

Big risk saying Grossman will be right in a fortnight. Who says you guys will get there. C"MON YOU LIONS!

Raggies were keen but SMOSH WL advised SAAFL that they had too many guys working on Saturday morning, so it was programmed for the Sunday. Would have been a blockbuster on the Saturday.

Turbo - What are you on about (Wig) .... You know what, I want your best side on the park on saturday so i hope his playing so then there is no excuses.

Its probally better you dont tell me what number you are Regurdless if your playing A's, B's or C's.

The raggies B grade side - Rediculous that they couldnt fit S Constable into that side. Cmon Blublurag, whats up with that. Dont tell me he wouldnt be in your starting 18 in the bloody b grade.

Playing B's couldn't get back up. Strogn sides all round at SMOSH. Looking forward to 3 good games between the two strongest D3 clubs.

2nd Semi
SMOSH 17.12 ATHELSTONE 14.13

Raggies were up by a couple at half time but SMOSH played the better footy in the 2nd half.

Yeah, there was 4 points in it at the main break (Raggies way), and then SMOSH WL by 7 points at the last break. A 6.0 to 2.5 final term sealed the deal. Raggies turn their focus to Walkerville in the prelim.

Raggies B's got up in a high standard contest.

The crowd was a big one. Sold out of everything. Probably as big as last year's PNU final.

I see Walkerville smashed Salisbury West - Any reports on that game?

A very good win for us yesterday - The first goal of going straight back to Div 2 is done. Now for a flag.

Would Raggies be worried a bit about the prospect of going out in straight sets? Surely it has to be playing on their minds at least slightly.

Our b's have to travel to Athelstone again this week to play St peters! Damn SAAFL! Hahahaha!

If you mean the score...yes they did, just over 13 goals... it was close until about a bit into the 2nd quarter and thats when the fun started.

Jason Creek copped some of his own treatment and it all went pear shaped from there, Tyson Creek red carded and reported for headbutting, and Adam Creek lucky to not get reported for tripping. Walkerville just too classy.

They will be a real threat to the Raggies this Saturday. To go out in straight sets again this year would surely spell the end for Mr Barabas.
Don't play games with a girl who can play 'em better...

Didn't see the game but had a mate who was down there and he reckons when Salisbury West were well and truly out of the game they just went the biff and lost the plot. If this is the case then the SAAFL needs to have a look at this. It is becoming an all too common occurrence with this club. They should have been thrown out of the comp after the Payneham GF a few years back.

as a smosh player i am so glad we dont have to put up with the salisbury west shite next year. Was talking to one of the umpires on sunday and he said they were a disgrace.

Athelstone could it happen again in A grade and in C grade they were easily the best side all year but got beaten by 10 goals on sunday, what has happened?
