we don't pay any players mate so i guess you could say we turned him down but it's the same for every player at our club. good luck to Carry he's a good lad and an experienced player.

looks like we might have to practice in school gym our boxing skills though playing all the thugs

If you boys are worried about the thugs now, how are you gonna get a kick? You will be absolutely sh*tting by round1. Keep an eye on Rosewater i think thay are a major threat for the finals.
Thats what im talkin aboooouuuut!!!!!!

ahh..resort to violence when someone has an opposing view..good way to live your life burra..if you dont like the heat then get out of the kithcen..but i guess your meant to be in there so go back in..nothing i said was drivel..tell me what i said that wasnt true?

In all seriousnees i probably went overboard there. I took your underestimation of us to heart. I think we wil be more than 'making up numbers' this year. It pi***d me off no end to knock us back the way you did when i even mentioned our name in the top five. The drivel bit was probably in reference to the somewhat pointless (IMO) to the conversation earlier in the thread regarding how we arent real kookaburras, trying to take the piss out of our guernsey colour and the apparent no obvious connection between GG and kookaburras. Cant quote the exact 6 figures but trust me, it is all going to changerooms/community club. Not on players.

The whole Carr thing that has recently been broken by blues08 was what i was waiting on confirmation to tell you lads. Still didnt think he had 'signed' on officially but was just going to be training with us next week. Mitchell was 'all over it', i think he approached us actually, with mitch originally being hesitant. Should add some good fuel to the fire when we line up against blacks though. I more interested in the mate he is bringing with him from Lucindale. Apparently he was about to sign on with HopeValley but should follow Carr. Dont have a name yet but once i do BurraBoy will be all over it

fair enough..i think you guys will be very competitive as well..but i like to wait till rd 10 to make predictions, once we have all seen each other..trial wins and boom recruits dont give you any points on the premiership table :)

there is a lot of unknowns with this grade atm and trying to predict top 5's now, on information that is bantered around on these forums is rife with danger..lets wish everyone a safe year and we can disect the form after 9 rounds :)

logically a significant grant frees up other $ that would have been spent on those types of things and of course helps attract new players in because of the facilities and sponsors etc.

given what we saw out at GG last year it's all looking pretty good for the future. it now depends on the playing group and the coaches to win games.

$400,000 :? ....think a little higher  (1.18 federally plus some more from other sources)
Can understand where you blokes are coming from in regards to the grant money but the club always said that if we were unsuccesful in obtaining it, we would have got a loan. Obviously wouldnt have got the facilities we are planning for now but a project would have eventuated. Remeber a second oval is going to come out of the money as well.

Regards to the lucindale lad.....unsure of his name. Hold tight lads, ill see if i can get one for ya by end of tuesday training.

From all reports (or rumours, if you must) Blackfriars will struggle to make the five this year. Some big outs and some uncertainty about the coaching staff and whether or not they're up for the challenge could see their great run come to a screaming halt...

Hey Burraboys, will you have a few blokes missing this week seeing that Golden Grove FC have won there way through to a GF in the one day turf cricket comp. I guess if they win they might want to have a few quiet beers and just watch the footy. Or will they still front up win lose or draw? I know your A grade captain will be playing cricket

Unsure as to whether Ads will play saturday night or not. Slight injury at the moment. Bowling off two steps iv heard lol
Only three definate a grade startes in the cricket side. Wont be a massive issue. A few are apparently tossing up whether they will play cricket or not. Namley hoklas.

Looking forward to a good trial game. I reckon FD and his supercoach will be watching. Take notes Cab, i'm sure it will help. Not as much as the lucky blue coat...

Who do you think will win Div 5 in 2008?

Blackfriars OS 20% [ 18 ]
Central United 2% [ 2 ]
Elizabeth 8% [ 8 ]
Golden Grove 11% [ 10 ]
Greenacres 16% [ 15 ]
Ingle Farm 3% [ 3 ]
Kenilworth 6% [ 6 ]
Plympton 12% [ 11 ]
Rosewater 7% [ 7 ] x
Smithfield 10% [ 9 ]

Total votes : 89
Just looking at the poll here, does anyone really beleive a college team could win the A5 Premiership, with Greenacres to be runner up, what a joke!
