The Raggies didn't have their best day of the year, a few outs and a Pooraka side (with outs as well) hell bent on causing an upset. It was typical of recent Athelstone v Pooraka games, a dour struggle. Still, the Raggies got the win so have to be happy about that. In the end, I think we are glad for the weeks rest before 3 tough weeks, Old Iggies, Eastern Park and Payneham NU.

Back to it guys, my tips for this week

Eastern Park vs PAOC
Old Ignatians vs Athelstone
Salisbury vs Pembroke OS
Payneham NU vs Pooraka
Walkerville vs Flinders Park

Wouldn't be surprised to see Flinders Park get up though.

For the record, I think the Top 5 will end up Athelstone, Payneham NU, Old Iggies, Pembroke OS and Eastern Park. In that order.

Round 9 update

Postby swingman » Mon Jun 19, 2006 1:50 pm

I would have to say that the athelstone vs old iggies game on Saturday was
By far the clubs best performance ive seen by the athelstone football club.
The club for the first time played as a team & not as individuals.
Loman’s ruck work in the middle was brilliant, Skurries work in the backlines
Along with tommo’s run from the half back flank (brilliant)
Luke abell was servicable at chb & how about chris robertson’s 7 goals, who was
Standing him. (a class act)
Ive heard on the great vine that 2 country clubs are interested in chris robertson
Next year. Can anyone share some light on that rumour. (& would he leave)

He has played for a few clubs now so it depends where he thinks his footy is at - premierships usually help keep players !!!

The sooner he is moved from a permanent half forward the better your forward line will be.
(Or he learns to give the first time - & playmore up the ground instead of sucking out back)
He should be playing in front of your CHF, instead of behind him looking for a easy ball get out the back. Am i the only one that can see this.... He crowds your forward line, not allowing your forwards to run into space......

Where is captain hopper - why isnt he playing - how far away is he
My comment about this lad back 4 weeks ago proves my point, how good and balanced did your forward line look with out him. Blokes were willing to give the first give and share the ball
which resulted in multiple goal kickers. Very enjoyable to watch raggies.... Keep up the great work.
Any comments blueboy -

Answer me this

Postby swingman » Tue Jun 20, 2006 9:29 am

What the heck was so different from last Saturday to the previous 2 games
When the side was useless but somehow still won. To beat Iggies so comprehensively with so many players out. The grapevine tells me they had quite a few out as well. Raggies seemed as though they kicked goals so easily compared to most games when the forward line is like a flood with everybody wanting to kick goals & being selfish.

You’ve been quiet cruzn9 where is your response

Pag, if you're tipping the top 5 in that order, you're essentially saying that PNU will lose to Athelstone at home in 2 weeks? Big call...

Not necessarily, you guys still have to play Iggies down at Railways as well. I just it's gonna take an effort to beat Athelstone and Iggies at Railways. Not saying you can't, just that it's going to be a hard task. If you can, then you should head into finals as Premiership favourites I would think.

An upset with Salisbury getting their first win (against Pooraka... well done Pag).

Biggest surprise, PNU lost to Flinders Park. A big upset.

Thanks mate, it was definitely one of the best wins I've been involved in. We were almost 4 goal down at quarter time and we were totally outplayed in the first quarter. To the boys credit we stuck at it and held on in the last quarter no bench which was even more pleasing.

No surprises with PAOC v Iggies.

Athelstone just going on on their merry way.

Pembroke v Walkerville was closer than I expected, Pembroke looked awesome last week.

I don't know what happened with PNU and Flinders Park, maybe Lisa can shed some light for us...

You forgot to mention Flinders park - they still had to play them on the weekend dont worry about athelstone & iggies, just take it one week at a time.

This week Athelstone vs payneham is going to be a glimpse of what to expect come gf time.
should be a huge crowed & a great game.
