If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I think it works well as it is at the moment, will be interesting to see if Broadview/SMOSH get promoted from D8 to D7.

err but it is broken

the last 3 c-grade sides who when have had a choice have all chosen to stay down; henley 2008, shoc 2011, ttg 2012

I like your idea and of course it is broke, 3 C grade teams in a row don't want to go up and your looking at leaving the bottom side in div 6 or promote the 4th team from div 7.....Well Hello!!!!!

It wont ever be fixed while there is 5 A grade teams and 5 C grade teams in Div 7. Let the league sort it out.

I personally believe that any side with an A and B grade should start in Division 7 so that they know what the base quality of the competition is and this should be the minimum that the clubs should be aiming for.

A C grade team only competition would lend itself to periods of domination by those sides who have strong upper grades - eg Henley, SHOC and Adelaide Uni who have won flags in Div 7 and played occasional finals in Div 6. TTG may be with these as well at the moment. Uni's C grade side (in Div 6) would have spanked all Div 8 teams this year; as coach of the Uni Div 8 team I believe I'm qualified to judge the standard.

We also don't know what Athelstone are doing and whether increasingly strong clubs like Walkerville and SPOC will enough to fill another side. The League could also look at a different form of competition; certainly in 2000 I played in a division in which there were only 6 sides - why not have div 7 with only seven or eight teams and a final four? Why can't there be only nine sides in Div 6 if it means evening out Div 6 and Div 7? Do TTG actually wish to stay in Div 7? Starting anew, should all the Div6 and Div 7 sides be put together and the best ten play div 6 and the rest div 7 regardless of where they finished in 2012? Why not bend promotion/relegation rule for Ingle Farm if they wish to stay up if it's for the betterment of the competition?
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much

Nothing. We went with someone young who we think would thrive with their first opportunity to coach senior football much like Rexy did.

Wouldn't have thought burgo would be the type to coach!

Good luck to him and Houghton next season!
