We commission Uni to clone them for the purposes of the hypothetical exercise.

This is almost as enthralling as to whether a D5 side could beat a D1R side?

Thanks farmers for the day today and the Jugs after.

Bedge your mob were stiff in the 2’s and you were easily best on in the three’s for your mob. Was going to come up and chat to you in the rooms but you were deep in conversation.

Keep at it gents, look forward to the return bout.

I would’ve welcomed an interruption, all I get is people whinging at me haha!

Kenilworth aren’t a bad unit across the grades - C/B grade obviously not in the same calibre as A grade but what was evident is a consistent message and strategy across all grades. The Kookas know and understand how they want to play, and execution aside don’t stray often from the aim, which is why they proved so good today as well.

C grade is frustrating, blokes who don’t listen and do their own thing, your left footer (his 150th?) absolutely ripped it up, and the African guy at CHF could be anything in the future - big, strong, agile.. loved it!

B grade there is no luck but what you make. Umpiring continues to baffle me at this level but overal facts are we were lazy in the most parts and didn’t execute properly, and we lack genuine key position players and experience. Today we had 4x U16 players, another 6x U19, 3x guys 30+ and 8x 25 or under. On top of that, very few are still in my side from recent years, most are in the A grade, and a most of my side are either new to footy, senior footy or B grade footy. I’m super proud of how far they’ve come and continue to develop and improve - we won’t win many this year, but the foundation is (hopefully) being laid for future years.

Enjoy the win, see you on the return bout

You will win more games in the 2’s.

We had numerous blokes stand up in the 1’s that want to hold their spots with some quality returns in coming weeks.

Should be a belter of a match at St Mary’s next week as we celebrate a 250th and welcome back the opposition coach who is a Kenilworth legend.
2nd spot on the line also.

Further too that.

Your C grade showed a bit in that second qtr. Down 7 goals they fought well. They definately had speedy legs which apart from 1 or 2 we do not have. Your boys need to use that to their advantage.

Your B grade i had as favourites heading into the last with the scoring end only down by 11. Suprised you guys haven't actually got an extra win or two.

Your A grade I thought prevented us playing our game for a strong majority of the day. I know 46-9 scoring shots might say otherwise but actually at the game I thought they toiled hard and pressured us into some silly turnovers. Some we did without pressure also haha. I will be relieved when we get a couple guys back into that side.

Lady behind the bar, very friendly and told me you guys have lost quite a few from last year, combined with jumping a grade makes life hard. Sucks loyalty isn't exactly common in amateur footy. Love the facilities to watch the game from & the mini casino which i was informed was not regular place in the clubrooms (although it should haha).

Special mention to the blokes on the hill chucking banter all day. I love banter & clubs that have that makes me enjoy a visit.

See yaz at St Marys.

We have the other top 5 teams all in the next 4 weeks- it’s a season defining period for us. Take Rd 1 out where we had that well documented shocker with injuries we are equal top with both you and CBCOC with a % in the low-mid 60’s. Still means nothing if we don’t perform for the next 4 weeks.

We had the same two umpires last year against Greenacres and was just a disgraceful. Not sure how they get a gig at all!

We weren't stiff to lose. He probably chose his words wrong.

I thought we had ample opportunities to seize control of the game, and we had our opportunities to finish, particularly in the 3rd quarter but failed. we were also very lazy during the early parts of each quarter in particular, and over the game as a whole. Several players happy to work ahead of the ball but not work back, and happy to rely on Kenilworth mistakes to take advantage in a dangerous position. Our F50 pressure was almost non-existent for a lot of the game, and only because our D50 setups were we able to generate multiple F50 entries.

Umpiring from the old bloke in the hat was very ordinary, but after 8 rounds i'm becoming somewhat accustomed to it, and he was terrible both ways - for instance last quarter we got a free kick on half back, he was 40m away and gave the free kick - the other umpire was quite literally standing over the contest! I still don't know what it was for haha!

Facts are, Kenilworth worked very hard - I sent a guy to Flanigan all day, and he absolutely ran him off his feet. Despite a quiet day, still managed to pop up at critical times, and kicked 3 pivotal goals. They tackle really well, and as with the A grade they continue to back in their game plans over 4 quarters - this is proving to be one of the most noticeable things in the step up this year I've found, the sides in D5/D5R all understand how they want to play, what their processes/plans are and they stick to it for the whole game, very very rarely stray. Our guys might apply themselves for a period then go away from the instruction for patches as well.

Zwar was massive, not so much in the ruck, I thought his impact in the middle wasn't great, we broke even there, but his work rate around the ground, positioning ahead of the ball and intercept marks were the difference - particularly the last quarter he basically just plonked himself inside our F50 and shut down plenty of entries.

Overall I thought it was a really good game, it was low scoring for the most part, both sides back 6 continued to fight hard, and the game was constantly around the 1-2 goal mark all day.

Good call on the wrong choice of words. Definitely had chances in the 3rd quarter to push ahead did Ingle Farm but the scoreboard never lies in the end (It doesn’t always tell the full story though).

You gave me the shits in the 3’s Bedge because you got to the right spots in front of Mick and I. My first game in a long time and I’m feeling it!
