Shepherd would be close to the best player in D5 mate, he is a gun. Need a strong bloke to stand him.

Think the paper this morning said a bit for the result of this one. Byrne x2 back from the Yorke Peninsula, as well as John Waltham (I'm presuming) back from Scotch. Will make a massive difference.

I mentioned this during the week...
Pag wrote:Have been misinformed about Pooraka apparently. Spoke to a guy in the know out there and he says Coles and Howe are both staying on, and they picked up a couple of ex-juniors and a couple from Torrens Valley. Feeling pretty confident.

Aparantly Mitcham lost 4-5 A Graders from last year, not happy with with the club over a clearance issue of fellow player and decided to walk as well...

R.Byrne is Ryan Byrne I would say that played at maitland last year. Unit of a man and a very good footballer. Byrne would be handy in any team and it looks like PAOC will be big improvers with this bloke playing.

Talking to one of the PAOC guys in the 3rds and he was saying last year they were struggling to fill 3 sides, had lack of depth, hence the demotion... all of a sudden a whole heap of players come back, along with some new signings and they have great depth.

12 of their C grade team played B grade all year last year so it seems PAOC have their depth back and will be pushing to go back up straight away.

CBCOC comfortably over Pulteney, in one of the many Parkland derbies for the year.

Geez, i was close !

Great wins by PAOC and Pooraka inparticular.

Fitzroy/Portland game was a cracker. Good, hard, physical game, with a bit of drama at the end.

Fitzroy were up by 41 points at the 5 minute mark of the last quarter, we managed to kick the next 7 goals. Fitzroy up by 1 point, 30 seconds left on clock, ball-up in middle. Portland win clearance, and win a free kick down ground for a stupid head-high tackle (one of the few decisions the umps actually got right during the day, for both sides !). Portland free kick just on fifty from goal, siren goes. Goal to win, point to draw. Kick falls 2-3 metres short. Player kicking was always going to struggle to make distance, but still shattered.

Ha ha, yeah reasonably happy with the boys. Wasnt pretty, but got the job done.

I can tell you, the 24 hours leading up to the Saturdays game was one of the most stressful times of my life ! Last minute phone calls and changes - FFS !!! A whole pre-season of planning can go out the window in a few minutes !

Anyway, on to next week :D
