Carry finally got a gig- he has been floating around a few clubs for a couple of years now. Good on him- hope he isn't as angry as a coach as he was on the field

I Realise this is a metro thread but, this may or may not affect some SAAFL Teams, This from the Hamilton Spectator.;

THE Portland Football Club has confirmed the biggest rumour in football this week – Mark Jeffries will not be coaching the Tigers in 2008.

The shock decision was made at a meeting of the club’s board last week, with Jeffries being informed of the decision at a meeting on Monday.

Club president Jeff Dyke said while he understood some people outside of the club may view the decision as an unusual one given Jeffries’ success with the playing list – having led the Tigers to two premierships in a row – the board felt it was the right decision to make.

“It does seem like an unusual call,” Dyke admitted

“He certainly did a fantastic job coaching to get us back-to-back (premierships), but he is probably not leading us in the right direction as to where we want to go, without saying anything too derogatory about him.”

Jeffries said he was still waiting to hear from SANFL club Woodville West Torrens Eagles about a possible position at the club, but added if that did not work out he would begin looking for a new football home.

“I should know within the next 24 hours if I have a position at the Eagles Footy Club in the SANFL, so

I’ll work out what I am doing from there, either at the Eagles or looking for a new coaching role,” Jeffries told The Portland Observer during the week.
Sorry people I only deal in facts!

He was carrying on a fair bit at the WBFL GF. They were up by heaps but he was just acting like a tool. Doesn't surprise me.

I probably could coach Portland, with the list they had you wouldn't really have to do much coaching.

Scud wouldn't get a gig on my coaching panel Dutch. Maybe the junior colts if he's lucky. :lol:

Think you are spot on. I know a couple going to league clubs, and one O/S. Koster i think will play on as a player, but it defintley is a plum job with a lot of depth at the club but just needs stucture from the coach.

SHOCs aren't that good, they have lots of depth because everyone at their school plays footy. Last couple of years have had a crap backline

Definately RRR,,dont think Koster should play tho,his knees nackered.He should concentrate on coaching only & get a bit tougher on blokes like Winstanley, who should be setting a better example as a leader & showing more discipline 2 the younger ones around him.Like you said RRR theres no structure & that comes down 2 the coach,so if Kosters serious about his coaching ,dont play coz playing & coaching dont work.
