You're spot in there dinglinga, Spence was pretty hard to get past. Unfortunately a bad back forced him out of the game a bit early.
Doc Grigg is regarded as the Raggies best ever player, 7 club B&F's and a SAFA medal in 1994. Clocked up his 200th this year in the C's at age 44, and I reckon still wouldn't look out of place in the A's.
Bit off topic here so I won't go on.
One of the best games I have seen was only a couple of years ago, Athelstone v PNU at Raggiesland, Round 3, 2006. Clubs are arch rivals and hadn't played each other for a few years. Crowd of 2000 plus I reckon (and FC can back me up here) and the game was a cracker. Tyson Burrows kicked 4 goals in the first quarter, PNU up 8 to 1 at quarter time. Raggies back in front at the last change but PNU won it by 7 points.
Details were...
Payneham NU 8.1 10.4 13.6 19.10 (124)
Athelstone 1.2 8.4 14.10 17.13 (115)
Ath Best - S.Thompson, M.Stagg, B.Skurrie, B.Lomman, A.Waldon
Ath Goals - M.Stagg 5, J.Duigan, S.Oatway, C.Whenan 3, M.Constable, K.Hopper, M.Grossmann
PNU Goals - W.Kollias 5, T.Burrows 4, N.Jolly, J.Stagg 3, L.Martin 2, G.McIntosh, T.Pattful

Pooraka up by 10 goals at 3 1/4 time, Salisbury North kicked 11 or something and held them scoreless with Chris Pascoe , an old Pooraka boy, kicking the winning goal much to the disgust of the Pooraka Supporters on the hill and sending Salis Nth into Div 1 for the first time and the Grand Final v Glandore which they lost.
Also Salisbury North v Gepps Cross @ Norwood Oval, Div 2 Grand Final....
Massive blue that included everyone and trainers! Damien Victor for Salis Nth runs into a near open goal that wouldve sealed the game with a few seconds to go but gets smothered by Carmichael (i think) tnen picked up by Hueskes and he runs near on the whole field and passes it off to a team mate who duly kicks the winning goal....

But after one of the greatest quarter time speeches i have ever seen from Portlands coach, which included the punching in the chest of a particular player (the player obviously not performing to the standard he had talked himself to be), over the next three quarters Portland some how pegged it back, narrowly getting over the line. Heard it to be 1 of the biggest come backs of all time.
Some 1 on here may have a better recollection of that day.
