Which Club?

Me and a few mates have decided to play footy again in 2008, we have narrowed it down to 3 clubs, due to mates at the club, junior days there, or being aligned to our Cricket Club.

So which one of these would be the best club to go to?

Payneham Norwood Union
Greenacres
Adelaide Lutheran

???

Keeping in mind we have all been out of the game for atleast 5 years, so a club where we can ease back into it is prefered.

Any advice good or bad, on how these clubs are run, what the people around the club are like etc would be appreciated.

From an unbias person, who hates them all :D i would say PNU, by far the most professional of the 3.
Nice oval, seem to be good blokes, dont have their heads up their bum like some other Eastern suburb clubs.

Payneham: full of ferals

Adelaide Lutheran: pretty young looking, lots of goody two shoes out there but play a good running style of footy. It seems like there is a good community there with netty involved with the footy and they had good support at there GF this year.

Greenacres: I reckon it might be hard to get a spot out there this year. Lots of players are going to that club. They didn't go too badly last year but neither team was in the finals. If everyone hangs around there should be a lot of depth.

Well no prizes for guessing which one FC is gunna pick

Good range each spread throughout the divisions

Lutherans Change rooms are health hazard & I have a few mates there also, 1 not enjoying his time much but I'm yet to find out why

I didn't mind the PNU facilities the only game I played out there in 05 apart from being Black and white

don't have a clue about Greenacres

Greenacres would be the most professional outfit in terms of how the club is run and I know its full of nice people, the trainers are good too... would be an exciting place to be next year, looks like Danny Ryan will be coaching and hopefully with all the new players they will probably pick up looks like it might be a good year for them...

Are you telling me that you honestly think Greenacres are better run than your mob ? :? Bollocks, you are comparing a D2 club, who have been steadily rising up the grades, to a D5 club who have been mostly stagnent. Not to say Greenacres isnt professionally run, but surely PNU is a better run club overall, hence the results.

I would say for facilities you would have to pick PNU, 3 teams and coached by a good coach in Garry McIntosh.

Danny Ryan to Greenacres? Big drop from Kilburn but then Kilburn are struggling.

from somebody who's played them all albeit from a uni black viewpoint.

pnu for facilities but the oval is a bog come a shower.
being out for 5 years probably means that c grade may be beckoning (and i believe that pnu have a c grade whereas the others two don't).

lutheran for its centrality, oval in the parklands but changerooms suck. However, they always seem to have a good culture and support.

i guess if you're coming from the north and travel time a factor, greenacres. Personally I've had too many foul experiences at the hands of greenacres to have any real respect for them.

most clubs would be pleased as punch if new guys came out and would all strive to make you feel welcome.

Nope no family, a lot of people (not even having ever played them) think of Greenies as rough for the simple fact they live next to Yatla and used to have day release blokes playing for them.

The fact is, is that they no longer do the day release thing and they run their club very well. Its hard to attract a good player in div 5, hopefully a good coach will rectify this and they can make their way back up the grades...

i first played against greenies when kevin aistrope roamed the centre square...i was 17 and not ashamed to say i was petrified of all of them..they were a powerhouse in those days and very very tough..ive since played them may times on the top and bottom oval and have seen my share of oval invasions and king hits and broken jaws..just my opinion..i wouldnt take my wife and kids there..but i do like bomber bamford :))
