I was at the Havy on night after Phos had beaten Uni by 15 goals and standford had kicked about six from CHF with Tommy Martin playing on him all day. Stanford gave him a bath but Martin got best for the blacks!!! Martin never stood out when I saw him but Even Arnold and to a lesser extent Doggie Muir were good players.

I've only seen three Division 1 games in my life as I'm busy playing Div 3 on Saturdays, so I probably wouldn't have seen as much good SAAFL as most here. But from the last few years, coming from D6 up to D3, the best player I've seen during that time is Matt Jolly from Modbury. The bloke has everything. Unstoppable almost.

Mark Jones Broadview
If Evan Arnold was one of the best then Tim Johns would have to be close.

Pretty hard to go past Heuskes and Schache and Mark Jones. Couple of others from the dim dark past Mark Simpson, Phil Allen Broadies, Kevin Spyrou Pt Dist (the hairiest man I ever tackled)Mark Krezminski Riverside and Andrew Obst in his West Croydon days.Pulteney used to have a guy playing half back (when they were in A1) who played state SAAFL who was pretty handy.

Adrian Pope would have to be of the best over a long period of time that's frustrated many opposition that have not paid this tiny man enough respect.

I agree whole-heartedly with that last comment.
Ahhhh the team of 2002. What a day at Adelaide Oval. I wonder if the Uni blokes ankle has recovered, im sure the fence hasnt?
Loechel's goal out of mid air was amazing that day too for the Blacks!

I meant the one about the Pope, not the hairy bloke.

I think Mark Jones from Broadview, Schache, and Paul Marshall from Portland.

best players I've 'seen' would be Marcus Trimboli, Adam Heuskes, Loren Franz, Joe Quigley or maybe Matt Kluzek

This bloke played in the southern league. They called him Fishy.
