Just giving the Club a plug. Thanks Falconchick.
Do we REALLY want to see all these kids playing the round ball game, and paying $200-$500 for the privilege, rather than playing the greatest football code on earth!
And having grown from 100 kids in 2002 to 300 in 2007, I doubt whether they're all the produce of incestuous relationships!

Ok Pearcey hopefully a cultural change will come with new blood, just dont mix family juices any more and Gepps may get some positive results from it.

your comment re soccer fees is mainly associated with federation clubs .. if you go to most other junior clubs Eliz& Dists, Southern .. fees are quite comparable to junior footy ..

but at least ur exploring all avenues in trying to recruit .. my comment would be i rather kids playing sport than being on the streets causing trouble .. and thank god nintendo havent got an AFL on Wii

Why is it that when someone gets on this site, showing some initiative to promote Junior sport and their own club, clowns have to stick their bib in with ridiculous comments like i have just read.
Get a life you blokes, move outside your level of mentality for a change, you might find it's good on the outside

agree rupert but i must say this..

how many juniors would be on this site and see that and go..yeah i want to play for gepps cross..i think probably none..so what about the dads who might see it?..unless you had a real connection with gepps i cant see anyone going..im going to send my son/daughter to gepps cross to play..so why advertise it here? free publicity? bragging? i dunno

i would have thought a letter box drop in your direct area would be more fruitful, imagine if 30-40 clubs decided to make a post about their juniors..be fun reading eh?..but what do i know..play on

I reckon they would probably have the letter box drop covered in that new Northgate area & surrounds.

I guess my real reason is simply, why rubbish a guy or his club or look for all the negative aspects in his story, give them some credit for trying something different

Can't say that I know a lot of history re their seniors but the Geppys junior players, coaches & staff are always a pleasure to play against in any grade, would put some of the leafy inner suburb village green clubs to shame.
(now about your vote on a 16's only comp this year Pearcy  )
Hey soccer you owe us 45million.

Well, dads, mums, uncles, aunts, grand parents etc etc read this.
Point taken on elite soccer.
I guess the point is that we have many single parent or dual income families. So the kids go straight home after school sit down in front of the TV or Playstation and get fat and unfit.
Many kids also get frustrated with the decline of state primary and high school footy. They want to play footy, not soccer, but they have no choice, apart from their local junior club.
Would the majority of kids in SA rather grow up to be Andrew McLeod or Nathan Burns? Nothing wrong with soccer, as long as you're not forced to play it due to lack of knowledge of the alternatives.
If the clubs don't promote themselves then the kids get fatter, Sony and Microsoft get richer and the game dies.

Well said Pearcey, if you got 5 kids from this add its a bonus, they could of been on the streets doing what this GANG OF 49 are doing, giving alot of people misery.
Its all about our kids of today being Wanganeens, Buckleys etc in a few years time.
So what if Pearcey's done it year in year out, atleast he's trying to help youngsters of today better themselves & make a name for themselves for the right reasons not the wrong.
I'd love to see these kids playing footy before soccer, but if soccer appeals to them, well have a crack.
Just go out & enjoy.

If your kids have played footy in a club, league or association which has had 'issues' then why not consider joining S.A's fastest growing, happiest and increasingly successful junior footy club.
Don't get ripped off paying $90 or $100 in fees. A single kid pays $70 at the Rams, $110 for two, and NO family will pay more than $135, no matter how many kids they bring.

Ah the irony of one poster trying to make an honest attempt to improve the state of his junior club and being heckled for it and on another thread another poster expresses concern over the self destruction of another club. my fellow posters, be thankful our kids are playing Australian rules at all before the many other options available to them lure them away from our game otherwise our game is defunct

Maybe you underestimate the power of this website.
Had 30 new kids turn up or phone since I posted the 'ad'. Coincidence?..probably.
Oh well, another week till registration day on Feb 10th!

Who do I/We say mean things about?
We have great respect for all junior footy clubs.
Remember an average sized club, 200 kids, has to care for more players than FOUR AFL clubs, and all voluntarily. Although, I have to say that some AFL players need more care than the average 6 year old!
The opposition club most admired by me and most at Gepps Cross is Fitzroy. Walkies do a great job too. Gullies always seem to have good admin and kids, as do Modbury. One or two clubs, who shall remain nameless, were pretty good too until the last couple of years but they are slipping into 'feraldom'. A few others have to look at their admin and coaches or the future for them is bleak. Whether we like it or not, political correctness is ruling everything and most parents simply want their kids to have fun and be treated fairly, unlike the old days when it was all agression, screaming, abuse and behind the play hits.

So why can't you just leave at that and leave the gutter trash out of it? There's nothing wrong with rivallry between clubs, but that was just trashy!

Oops!
Forgot Salisbury. Only our Under 15's played them last year and the coach, players and officials from Salisbury were a credit to their club. A few other clubs out that way should follow their example!
