www.nafc.com.au wrote:In what is a major step forward for Greenacres Football Club, a junior side shall represent the Club for the first time since the late 90s. The team shall wear an appealing new jumper representing a combination of Greenacres colours and a little red and white! The side shall play in the Amateur League U/18 competition and importantly underpins the Greenacres senior and reserve sides with a future source of players. Once established, we plan to introduce further under age sides.

With Grand North as major sponsor it is an exciting step forward for the Club and North Adelaide, as part of our original submission was to re establish junior football at the Northfield complex.

Congratulations to the Club and particularly Danny Ryan - Senior Coach, for his role in the achievement.

wouldnt we all love a league team to take that much interest in what we do..if greenies cant be in div 2 in 5 years they should give the game away..they have got absolutely everything on their side now..blue sky imo..u/17s, fringe reserves straight out of prospect that cant make the cut will fill their ranks..$35k to spend this year..good luck to them

I guess it's reciprocal.... we make money out of Grand North, we re-invest in our zone....

Great initiative by both clubs, although it does appear to be at the expense of other clubs in North's zone (I wonder how Broadview will take this?).

Also interesting to not the guernsey design is copyright 2004, obviously this has been planned for some time and I would expect both clubs were preparing under 18 players to play for the new side from last season some time. Unlikely to be unsuccessful, I reckon.

I think that's because Greenies may have been looking at the same design as a clash strip..The handwriting at the bottom of it looks like my mates... I can tell her "e"s anywhere

You would hardly describe that jumper as a combination of greenacres colours and a "little" red and white??

Of course its only coincidence....

funny that a clearance for an underage junior from nth adelaide now wishes to be cleared from us to greenacres. makes it hard for other clubs in the zone. hope greenacres feel proud of themselves, stealing other clubs players before the kids are spoken to by their own clubs

Tiger thats is a bit "funny" as you call it. Sounds like its sort of a Nth Adel Junior - Junoir - Sub team

I was going to post that, you guys had a meeting last night re your 17's & their future at the club, this'll throw the cat out amongst at Broadys & to a lesser extent Geppys you'd think.

I suppose it becomes a problem when other clubs show initiative on developing their juniors and the fall out affects your club.

No, quite the opposite. From Gepps point of view we have a big squad of U/18's training now, the majority will be Under 18's next year too. Many of these guys are talented enough for SANFL U17 or 19 action but they have jobs or important educational objectives, not to mention girlfriends, and don't have the time or commitment to train and play for an SANFL club. We are keen to pit our young men again the best and if Greenies are the best then our 'kids' can learn a lot.

And, if Greenies become the stepping stone to North juniors, then seniors, then the AFL - good luck to them.

Only downside is, we want to use one of Greenies ovals for junior training. Might not be available now!

Lets hope that Greenies & Danny Ryan do the right thing and purchase the new jumpers, shorts etc. from a SAAFL licensed supplier. There is still a matter of pending court action against Jax by the league for failure to pay the agreed license fee for season 2006. The reason poor Danny gave was that he wasn't happy with the amount of business he got from SAAFL clubs. Maybe if he got of his bum and went looking for business instead of expecting business to find him, it might have been different and he could have paid the $15K
