YOUR CLUB'S SUBS FOR 2008

Hi all just trying to get a rough idea of what club's around the SAAFL are charging for subs this year
I know there was a similar thread last year with a poll before anyone brings that up....
Give me a ball park figure if you feel the need to be secretive about it.
We have had discussions around our club in the last week or so and just interested to see what other clubs are charging

West Croydon charge $100 and with that you get 2008 club shirt. Probably one of the cheapest going around.

St Pauls charged $160 last year and you got a club shirt and a club sportsbag with your name and number on it....this year will be the same but you get a jacket instead of a shirt and bag.

I guess it all depends on the club set up Ash man.

In our situation we also have to contribute around $20 each or so to our governing body ,the PSA (Payneham Sports Association) which incorporates the PNU footy Club, Payneham Dukes Cricket Club and the East Adelaide Tennis Club, so ours have tended to be around the $200 mark (inc this fee) which in the past has included a shirt as well.

At most clubs I've been at or spoken to around $180 seems to be around the mark..

Actually getting the subs though, is another story...

Maybe if clubs didnt charge so much, people would be willing to pay subs?

I mean having the whole team pay 100 each is better than having 5 pay 200 each?

If you have respect for your club and understand that it cost alot of money to run the day to day operations of a sporting team, you tend to find the money to pay your subs!

Unfortunately not everybody thinks like that. Our cgrade last year had 3 players pay subs!

We make it that half has to be paid by round 1 or you dont play
2nd half by round 6 or 8 or once again you dont play
Seems to work well, at the end of the day everyone wants to play so they end up paying
And this INCLUDES C grade who no offence to them but they are usually the slack ones when it comes to paying

we have ours at 230$ and if uve come straight out of school its 130$. if we pay our subs in full by a certian date we go into a lottery to win 500$ and if ur not there wen ur name is drawn its jackpots unitll round 6. smart idea i must say, and if u havent paid by a certian round u dont play. it worked well last year, i think majority paid

We also give the players the option of selling lucky squares
50 squares @ $2 each
$50 to their subs $50 to the winner
Means that they dont necessarily have to reach into their own pocket if they sell a few cards
A few blokes havent paid for their own subs for a few years!!

We charge $10 match fee each week, if you don't play, you don't pay. Makes it a lot easier to chase it up, the guys have to pay the Team Manager, who keeps a record, money is passed on to the Treasurer by each Team Manager each week. Blokes who miss paying one week, pay the next. We don't have a problem with guys not paying. We don't charge for finals, therefore if you play all 18 minors, it costs you $180. Although, I think this year each player is also going to have to pay their football club membership of $25 on top of that. Total $205.

I pay for my players subs from my own pocket. Particularly the players I actually like.

We used to do the $10 a week in the lower grades but it turns out to be a logistical nightmare
Team Managers have enough on their plate without worrying about getting $10 from each player

$150 for us, if it's paid by the end of March we get a $30 bar voucher back for getting it done early. Rule is if subs aren't paid by the end of May blokes aren't selected.

$70 for our Under 18s, with the bar voucher only being $10 if paid before March 31.

No shirts or merchandise included, buy that seperately depending on what blokes want/need.

For Paralowie its $100 Before January, $150 Before round 1, $200 afterwards. Think alot of the blokes paid before January this year which is a very promising sign for us.

I like the idea of not selecting blokes. You guys are lucky that you can afford to do it, as you had 3 strong sides last year. It makes it tougher if any of your teams are struggling. We are slowly moving towards being able to implement something similar.

Our fees last year were $90 if you paid before end of April, $110 if paid after. No shirts/drink vouchers/etc - keeps the price down.

At Goolwa subs are $180, however we have a player sponsor system. You find a local business to give you the $180 and in return they get a home match gate pass, a photo of their player displayed in the club and a photo that can be displayed in their business. The player gets a club polo shirt. Since intorducing the system we have had record numbers of players paying subs.
