One to make you really think.

Mine I beleive would be the 1990 A3 2nd semi between Seaton Ramblers v Kenilworth/Col Light at Mitcham.KCL won the match but lost the GF a fortnight later.I'll be interested to hear stories.
I also remember 2-3 weeks later going to the SANFL GF and watching that famous match. Interestingly I ended going out with a bird for 3 and a 1/2 years who's uncle played for North in that match..............

I stand corrected, its 1989.Therefore that would be my earliest memory of footy in general.Learn something new every day. I also remember the 1990 GF now you mention it.Watching it on tv and the commentators asking the umpires before the game who they wanted to win. Strangely enough the umpires all said Glenelg. Now if that happened today the umpires would be hung for making comments like that i would think.

I remember the 89 grand final demolition of the roosters. To my knowledge port magpie players where arguing for days who let Burton kick that one and only goal. 1990 was also a cracker. Bays were hot favourites with the big man Fidge in the square. When hodges went off just before half time things didnt look good but the big man came back broke the SANFL goal kicking record and led the maggies to a famous grand final victory, they were the good old days.

1976 - Top Oval at St Ignatius College (which isn't a footy oval any more). Watching Treloar medallist Tom Kelly carve up someone like National Bank or Murray Park CAE for Old Ignatians on the way to the A3 flag, our best-ever result, to reach A2 the next year.

Although I have many memories of me playing school/club footy for a few years prior, my first senior footy memory is the 1984 Salisbury premiership. Ended a 13 year premiership drought, I remember 100's of people rushing the oval at the end of the game, my old man was one of them so I followed. Finished up in the rooms after the game and was under the cup when a player tried to drink from it. Left the change rooms drenched in beer. Dad thought nothing of it, Mum was none too pleased when we got home (about 2 am I think), Dad hammered and her 10 year old son smelling like a brewery. Good times!

Some of my earliest memories include, getting dressed in all your clobber at home - including boots! My first ever pair were black adidas with fluro yellow stripes - they were second hand because mum didn't think they'd last long with growth spurts and all.
Also recall running around at my first ever football club in the U/10s, my first training I saw something I never ever thought possible - there was a girl in the team! She was the biggest of all the kids and as such was also our ruckman/girl, no one tackles her... At this same club one of the committee members used to make all of our shorts for us, complete with a stripe down each leg.

Prior to playing I remember going with my pop to Elizabeth Oval to watch Port Vs Centrals - pop was proud to have his grandson along however left in a shit after finding out for the first time I was going to be an avid Port supporter, Port won the match with me copying the Central supporters and banging on the fence after each goal - but the thing was I was the only one banging in our area after a Port goal that is. After this match I would watch footy all the time, I knew every players name and number, this was back when we had the Fosters and Escort Cup and slightly before they started playing college first 18 games on tele.

I still remember the first trial game I ever played in Under 8s, against Salisbury North at Salisbury Oval No.2 (behind the senior oval).

My next-door neighbour, who I was playing with at the time, was about to get tackled so I proceeded to snatch the ball out of his hands and kick a goal. Good times.

My first ever game was for Salis N versus Smithfield @ Smithfield.. It was u/9s and I was 5....

My first senior game was Salis Nth v Glandore @ Glandore. I was 15 and played in the B's... It wouldve been about 5 degrees that day and the oval was knee high with mud. And the first time i got my hands on the ball i was cleaned up and some old dude from Glandore stood over me and said this aint juniors son, f**k off.

as a spectator - being very small - 4 or 5 and going in the beetle to a lenswood ranges game, i think at bridgewater. just remember it being very cold, very rainy and very wet when i played in the creek behind the goals.

as a player - 5 or 6 at ttg -pertaringa, being told to stand on the half forward flank and stand i did. me and my opponent were much happier throwing mud and kicking water at each other than going for the ball. i ended up running up to the scoreboard and changing it as they had the score wrong. (i was a maths nerd as a youngster). Followed that up by doing the scoreboard with my brother while watching dad play for the gullies and him doing his acl. this would have been 1973.

My first ever memory would be my my first ever game in under 8's up at hopevalley oval. I rember we had to pay $2 for a bottle of powerade before they gave us our guernsey for the day. I got number 18 and was named at CHF. I was wrapped as carey, along with modra were my two favourite players. I then remeber asking my coach where CHF was. lol

I played fullback the next quarter and finished the game in forward pocket. It was a draw, an excellent result considering all bar one of the kids that day were out for their first game. It was a franctic tussle in the last few seconds of the game in our goal square. I sort of stood in the forward pocket with my opponent because i rember our coach telling us to try and stay in our positions. An instruction i took a little to literally. He then ran over to me and told me to get the ball. I soccered through a goal just before the siren went but it was dissalowed because, of course, you cant soccer in under 8's. Almost the hero. Not quite.

Perfect way to start an obsession with football that has lasted my entire life.

My memory that stands out the most is the day i stood Che cockatoo. I was plaing for Ferryden pk and him Rosewater. He was Full forward and kicked at least 9 or 10 in the 1st half! Thank god they put him on the ball in the 2nd half. Pretty sure we didnt win either. Other than that i remember dragging my dad to watch centrals games as he is typical port suppoter. He hated it!

My earliest memories is following some country clubs in the Riverland and Eyre Peninsula as a very young kid. Mini league started for me in the Great Flinders League when i was 8 in 1980.
