Completely agree. We have a lot of fantastic players playing amatuer footy that would love the opportunity. Most quality youngsters are still at SANFL clubs and often dont play amatuers until they are early twenties.

What would our current open-age amatuer football side look like, anyone want to have a go at positions and a bench... There wouldn't be many if any that come from D3 or lower...???

correct me if i am wrong, but doesnt the saafl put dollars towards the under 23 side. Those dollars are raised from the clubs that pay the saafl. The club dollars are raised in part from memberships from there players. But if your over 23 you are excluded from one of the benefits that your money goes towards.
Doesnt seem fair to me. Doesnt matter if you are the best just as long as your the best of the under 23's

Boys, you are flogging the proverbial "deadhorse". It will never happen again.

ash man look into the saafl budget and check how much is spent on rep football. You will be suprised. You will ask yourself why the players have to raise money.

I have been on this for a while and probably bore some people but i'm passionate about State Footy and getting the BEST to represent us. If they are good enough (under 23) they will make it, but i really doubt many would. Surely Open Age State Footy would entice some of the older players on the lists to stay at their club rather than move where the money is up country. Maybe even get better players to the comp in general. Its gotta be on the agenda, surely.
