Discussion on another thread has questioned whether some clubs should be the recipients of home finals.

The current rule states that as long as you cough up the cash and you can safely play on the oval, then you're eligible.

The other rule that you need to be selling and sponsored by West End isn't usually adhered to though :?

Thoughts?

Isn't the rule that you need to have West End on tap? Bit stiff, I think as long as it's being sold in can or stubbie form there shouldn't be any problem...

I think it's a bit wrong that it stops after the 2nd week of finals, minor premiers should have the easiest run as they earnt the right.

i have no doubt ep will not be givin a home final even though they have earnt it
why make it easy for them would be the thinking surely.they have been brilliant
in the games i have watched give them there right to host a final.they will pack
that joint its some of the best atmoshere going round.

FC, the West End sponsorship rule is definitely adhered to. TTG haven't had a home final for years for that exact reason. We have had to play all home finals at neutral grounds for as long as I can remember (which isn't long mind you!! )

Well they must pick and choose who they apply it to then, because I can tell you PNU got stiffed in 2006 because Pembroke are sponsored by Coopers and still got a home final.

PAOC wouldnt have to worry about the West End issue - they dont even have a bar !!!

All the top 5 D4 teams facilities are ok though, other than the condition of Mitcham's oval, and PAOC's lack of toilets/clubrooms.

Played a final at Pooraka last year, and they had a good set-up.

Pooraka wasnt bad to play at
PAOC dont normally sell west end i noticed when we played there this year
would they have to for the final
or would they get away with not doing it cause they are a college side???

As Felch pointed out that clubs do infact host preliminary finals (which I was unaware of), can anyone accurately tell me what would happen in the following circumstance in regards to highest ranked team. I have used the current div 1 table as a guide.

Goodwood
Henley
Gepps
Sal Nth
Gaza

Elimination Final: Sal Nth(h) vs. Gaza (assume Sal Nth won)
Qualifying Final: Henley(h) vs. Gepps (assume Gepps won)
1st Semi: Henley(h) vs. Sal Nth (assume Henley won)
2nd Semi: Goodwood(h) vs Gepps (assume Goodwood won)

My question would be who would host the preliminary final given that Henley finished higher but Gepps should've taken over as the higher ranked team after defeating them in the qualifying final?

Gepps get the home final.
