As we've all seen for ourselves the success of winning the catering contract, what its done for the Henley F/C in 2008 after its successful bid in 2007, ( or was it a bid? )
Its definately set the club up as favourites for this years Div 1 flag after a much talked about spending spree on recruits earlier in the year.
What clubs out there have approached the Amateur League regarding this format, or has Henley been looked after again by the League?? As shown by the Sharks last year, if done right its a licence to print $money$.
I hope the Amateur League have given (all clubs) a FAIR opportunity.
Who's got it?

NM, think you'll find the major profit portion will remain with the SAAFL. I believe they sought volunteers from clubs to man the canteen, BBQ & beer stand under the watchful eyes of a manager/ manageress and that those clubs would receive a donation for their assistance in return. I think that's the "nuts and bolts" of the story, I stand corrected if this is wrong. :? :o

I've heard differently CC but i wish someone from the League would come out & explain to us all exactly what the real circumstances were.
You won't get that though, all you'll get is a snow job from them, alot was swept under the carpet.
CC, you say that clubs would receive a donation for their assistance?I don't know of any other club that was involved.

This is from Newsletter 24 (30th July), from the SAAFL

Thebarton Finals and Catering
This year it would seem likely that there will be finals each week at Thebarton. The office
will be organising catering and is looking for expressions of interest from clubs to person
booths for food, drink and gates. The League will pay a set amount to the club, depending
on the number of workers and the length of time on the job. There may be members of the
junior committee should the seniors be involved in finals. We are looking for a group of
volunteers (eg. 4, 6 or 8) per week during the 5 weeks of finals, on Saturdays and Sundays

I have no doubt that last year Henley were kissed on the proverbial by getting the exclusive catering for Thebarton, but it looks like this year the League is trying to make it a bit more even and putting the onus back on the clubs.

NM
I understand if a Club gets the catering it's worth a $1000.00 to the club

CBC boys did it Saturday, they were very keen and eager to serve as long as they didn't have to move. Went to the bar a few times and saw 5 boys sitting down all day, letting one little fella do all the work. Bang on 1/2 time canteen closed, must of sold out of the Balfours bricks with sauce!!!!

As burnt and teeth breaking as they were, I think they were Villi's bricks not Balfours. Villi would have the Shad's goulies for goulash if he had seen the way his product was being dished up!!!

They were definitely Vilis bricks...not Balfours.
