Eskys/Alcohol at Grand Finals

What is the deal with bringing your own alcohol in to the Grand Finals this week? I've had a few people ask me already this week and I know security searches your car (which they have no right to do). So why do things change from the rest of the year just because it is a Grand Final/final?

I mean, by rights, they can't really charge you to get in either - let alone stop you from bringing alcohol in! Interested in everyone's thoughts/comments...

Saw a few boys try the old "you cant charge me to get in" at Thebarton Oval on Saturday. Weslo security didnt seem to agree with them, funnily enough. Surely if it is at a SANFL league oval then they will be able to stop us taking in esky's full of beer?? May have to pass them over the back fence :D :D

SD ..Totally agree with you !! its a giant scam by SAAFL , most of these games are played on council maintained and hence public reserves.. I went to the Greenies v Plympton game last weekend and the gate attendant told me SAAFL hire these venues from council...(yeah sure) and so I was obligated to pay addmission he then got the s#@ts on when I asked for a ticket to prove I had paid WTF

RE eskys in your car..tell em your going to a party straight from the game

We hosted finals again this year and recovered our costs without admission or carparking fees and sold out easily in canteen and BBQ- beer van

i went to the two payneham gf's a couple of yrs back and there were plenty of ppl there carrying around slabs and eskies full of beer, so they obviously werent to heavy handed with their policing. maybe things have changed since then though...

Would depend on the oval and how contained it is. Me and a mate jumped the fence at Salisbury last year, with a couple of cooler bags of beer (sorry Pag  ).

the reason they charge to get in and dont allow alcohol and make u buy it is becuase they expect big crowds and finals so they wanna make money to support stuff.....

theres no point charging to get in during season, noone would come...

Just not while you're running water though Fisty

In saying that, in the last 5 minutes of our grand final in 2005, I ran a pint of beer out to Scott Darrington and Louie Martin

Dunno if i will run water saturday
might concentrate on keeping myself hydrated!!!

that would be gold to see someone getting a beer
i swear when i watched my brother plays 17's against west croydon a few years back
there runner had a beer in one hand and a water bottle in the other
the players chose which they wanted  :D
i dont think i seen the water bottle get used once!

No worries mate, we sat out out the other side of Flinders Park with 3 or 4 cartons purchased on the way a couple of weeks back, it happens...

The SAAFL and the WESLOs know what's going on though, last couple of weeks at Salisbury Oval they've had a couple on the gate and a couple out the other side minding the back fance and the goings-on on the hill...

Believe the Kilburn Mound Men had all their van-full of grog taken off them last week.
