What do people think of talk that Edwardstown might be heading to the Southern Football League? Good move, bad move, is this a trend that some other clubs might follow? What does that mean for the Amateur League?

they tried this move last year and it got quashed from the senior players. for them to move they have to move the whole club, seniors and juniors, not seniors only.

as I said on the SFL thread an Edwardstown A grader knows nothing of this. so once again the club is going behind the back of the players again

heater31, you better have a players meeting very soon because i have been speaking to someone from townies as this is very much on the cards for next year. he is on the board of edwardstown.

One of the reasons that theyare looking at moving is to do with the fines and affilation cost that the SAAFL charge, Southern League is way cheaper. Also Edwardstown lost there major sponsor this year which was giving Townies at least $20k a year.

Word was around the traps last night, is that SHOC have expressed an interest not go up, allegedly because they "cant afford" to run a club at div 1 level...
I hadn't heard anything of this until last night and perhaps White Unicorn can shed some light, but that would then give Broadies 1st option of staying in div 1?

I have wondered this and have spken to you about this FC. I know hard hard we at Modbury will have to work behind the scenes to afford to be competative in the big league and we have a club behind us that is open 7 days a week to support us if need be.

did you steal this from Riddlers Roast this week FC?

I heard this the other day, if they stay down it's a joke! My sources tell me they have quite a few good players coming back next season and would be competitive in Div 1....What extra money do you need to run a club in Div 1? (serious question)

You are competing against clubs with pokies and clubs that pay players a hell of a lot. you need to be able to get some extra talent to be able to match these clubs. If you have a strong base then you shouldnt ned much more but SHOC rely on OC's and Club behind them

Lets have a look at worst case scenario then:
Edwardstown defects, SHOC stays down and Salisbury West is not registered in the SAAFL next year.
There needs to be a spot filled in div 2 and a spot in div 4. How are they filled and how does it affect possible relegatees?
Me steal your rumours?

, mate, Ive seen a few of my rumours pop up on your page weeks after the fact

I thought you were talking about Henley D7 anyway...

From what ive been hearing its all systems go to head up into Div 1. Its going to be difficult to be competitive as we dont pay, but a massive challenge.
First time I've had a chance to say it but congrats to Modbury, certainly best team all year and on Saturday. A few of the boys saw a few Modbury players at the Grand Sunday night and good to have a chat and a beer with them after a GF.

I hope SHOC do come up.... we have come from div 3 to 2 with SHOC and now div 2 to 1 so a solid rivarly has developed. Always a good clean tough game between the 2 clubs and i certainly wasnt expecting a 10 goal win on Saturday!
