Why is your clubs BBQ so good?

Postby Footy Chick » Wed Oct 01, 2008 9:55 pm

Ok, not much footy talk around and with teams going up and down divs, a lot of people aren't aware of what culinary delights are served up at other grounds.

I thought it might be nice to pass the time with friendly rivalry of another kind...or spruke your wares, as it were

So tell us, whats so good about your clubs BBQ?

You got writer's block or something, FC?

Our BBQ has never been the same since Azza and Lozo stopped working it. They made an awesome steak sanger and if you visited after the A grade game was over, you got some quite good comedy out of two blokes on their last bourbon can out of the carton!! :partyman:

Ours is under the verandah, and for the visiting team it's about 10 metres from the opposition bench, and the midpoint between the bench and the bar. It's all about location, location, location...

Thursday night at the GG shed is excellent.

Burgers and Hotdogs are the speciality with John Tiss and Gary Brown cooking up a storm.
A few of the lads used to get takeaway and bring it back after training but nothing beats a good only Tiss Burger or Brown Dog. Add in the occaisonal stirfry or pie floater, our young lads will beef up in no time at all

The lads have done some excellent roasts of late as well. Special mention to the pig on a spit cooked up for AFL grandfinal day.

I must say I was rather impressed with the BBQ down at St Marys Park in the finals. Huge selection and reasonable prices, and served by some very friendly elderly chaps.

Can Kenilworth be promoted to Div 2 please.

Kenilworth's is great, Greenacres have some tasty kebabs.

Our footy bbq is pretty standard no thrills aussie food, one person manning it and very busy.

During cricket season for junior games, our steak sangers consist of steak, egg, cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion, all for $3. Superb for under 11 games that get played on friday nights, no matter how many packets of steak we get, we sell out every time. We have people driving by that stop in for one and others that pre-order thursday.

May not like anything else about the traveling down south way, but will be first to admit the BBQ at St Marys park is one of the best, albeit can be slow service with the oldies, food sensational! =P~ =P~
