If any one is interested in using Kilburn Oval for trial games, please contact Rick Fox at rickf@promat.com.au.
The oval is available from the 14th March and can be used on weekends or during the week. Night games are also more than welcome as the lights are more than adequate.
A small fee will be required to cover costs..

Nothing wrong with Kilburn Oval to play trials under lights. Have played numerous A1 trials there over the years and possibly the best set up to play a trial match. It is not rock hard at all (granted one wicket on the cricket square is hard) but other than that the oval is perfect. Far smarter to play trials at night when the temperatures during the day are well into the mid 30's or even higher. For god sake dont listen to Bulldogs and book your trials with Ricky Fox. Absolutely perfect to play trials on a warm balmy evening and does not harm the athlete. As Ingle Farm lack athletes it should not worry them much. Do yourself a favour and play in perfect evening conditions. Highly recommended take no notice of Bulldogs and book now - This comes from a NON Kilburn person, Fantastic set up and great conditions and your coaching staff will be delighted as we always have been when using the lights at Kilburn for pre-season games.

I reckon you will find he is a Plympton player (Ex ;) ). Kilburn is a good ground no doubt, all he did say though was that it was a bit hard. If you are athletic come play a trial at Kenilworth ;) Good lights, good surface and you will get fit running around the biggest ground in the SAAFL

I agree with you. I actually think that the Amateur League should develop two ovals both north and south of the city to cater for Finals.
Having the prized Thebarton Oval is great but I think that if you had both St Marys Oval and Salisbury Oval as secondary ovals to play
the Division 2 and 3 Finals you could not go wrong. Both grounds have a fence to charge entrance. Both have lights. Both have a very
good surface and both offer distinctive opportunities to the League in playing games both North and South of the Leagues Home base and satisfy all supporters in terms of travelling.

Once Thebarton is sorted out I think the Clubs should advocate that both Salisbury Oval and St Marys Park are the two
secondary ovals used for finals matches and high quality games. As both grounds satisfy all the needs of any club this should
be a great initiative. Perhaps the League could invest some money into St Marys with Changerooms and a few facilites but other than that both are fantastic alternatives to the new home of Thebarton for the secondary matches.

Kenilworth - 100km winds and suss bbq

Plus the last time I was there, I reckon there were some spectators on the E side that hadn't gone home from the last South match

wow someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.... or didnt get enough sleep. yes im a plympton player, so not sure what or what team your going on about. When Plympton Played Central united in a elim final a few years back there the ground was rock hard. and it was not just players and officals from plympton saying that, the opposition team ( central united ) AND the umpires even said it was to hard. Maybe that has changed now being 2 years ago??? im not sure, im just going by the last time i saw and PLAYED on the ground.

Hey everyone..........Didnt really put this post up as a he said/she said about the condition of the oval, but please feel free to debate it ! :)
Simply if you need an oval for trial games, keep kilburn in mind. Yes, totally agree that twilight trials will be best in hot conditions, yep the oval is probly rock hard( as are all ovals mid feb) allthough my personal opinion is that is is a bit spongey
( no, i am not TBS.. thank god ! :D ) and our lights are fantastic.
So if interested please contact Rick, as 6 trials have been booked since this post on Thursday !
