For those that don't know, the 2009 State Coach has been announced.

Congratulations to Jamie Thomas on his appointment. =D>

Thoughts?

I for one think it's a very good appointment (and a very logical one to boot :D ).

Congrats to Jamie, he'll do a great job.
It's a pity the other bloke pulled out of the running due to other commitments, I believe he would have had the job otherwise.

It's my understanding that the SAAFL really preferred to have a coach who was not currently involved with a club in any capacity but had plenty of coaching experience. I think I could say that Neil Rawlings, a former Premiership coach at Gepps Cross and a guy with plenty of coaching experience and currently assisting as a junior coach at Port Adelaide was sounded out and the job was his except for some reason, Port either didn't want him to leave or Neil changed his mind after all the interviews had been conducted.

One of the few times I agree with you ace.

I remember when Neil was coaching at Gepps, a great coach and he was very well respected by all opposition sides.

Pity he couldn't have accepted the state coaching position as it would have been terrific for the state team.

I'm sad you don't agree with me more often, was it something you ate or what!

Don't kid yourself, he had his knockers in and out of the club even with success.
