i watched alot of unis games in about 04/05/06 and in those years Uni, goody saints, rocs, in the Div1r would have beaten most div 4 sides if not higher. they were filled with all the guys who now make up most of the A grade for these clubs.
all young sides then but seriously good players.
not sure if thats the go now but they were certainly dominant then.
the funny thing was all the Uni/Rocs blokes were mate and would get blind with each other after most games. the games against each other were brilliant to watch

I watched a Div 1 TTG Vs Rostrevor trial recently. The skills were far superior to Div 5 and 6 A Grades.
but I reckon the Div 5 and 6 A Grades would win in a fair dinkum match.
That not to say the D1R teams were soft, but they were filled with younger bodies and smaller key position players.

Was just talking about this very subject Tuesday night with our B grade captian who played a bit of D1/2 reserves. Majority of these guys have either been in the SANFL underage programs and played a little bit of reserves footy or a bit older and have played D1 footy.
The younger ones are busting their ar5es to get into the A grade and the few older guys still playing just provide the experience.
IMHO the top D1 reserves sides would win comfortably over a D5/6 A grade side however with a bottom side the contest would be alot closer

Div 1R, much fitter and better ball movement than a Div 5/6 side IMO. Would win easily.

Top 3-4 sides maybe. Not so sure about the bottom 2-3 sides in D1R though.

I reckon Henley's Div 1R side would be competitive in Div 2 & Div 3 A grade comps, maybe even finish in the top 5 of Div 3

Well thats overblowing it a bit if they were winning every week by 10 to 20 goals maybe.

The top few teams in div 6 would probably beat the bottom 5 sides in the GSFL, in my opinion.

Hard to compare. Going on my experience 5-6 years ago played Div 1res made the GF, next year played Div 5 made the GF then Div 4 the next year. Back then the Div 1res top 5 sides would definately beat top 5 in div 5 but would of been maybe middle to bottom of the scale in Div 4.

think about this, Henley, SHOCS, Athelstone and Unis have Div 1/2 A's then B's are 1/2R, the C's are then in Div 7... my guess is the B's 'should' be say 2 even 3 grades higher than the C's... so my thought is they would slot comfortably into Div 5, smash Div 6 and be around the mark in Div 4...

I agree with that, div 5 they would be competative, but they would struggle in div 4 I would think!!
6 they would win the premiership!!

Uni's and Goodies 'B' grade side of the late 90's would smash any Div 5 side. They would more than likely beat most Div 4 sides as well. Not sure if any of the current Div 1 reserves are as good as the Uni and Goodies sides of the late 90's though.

From what ive seen and played a top div 6 team would prob just beat a top div 2r team by 5 goals. In a div 6 side there are alot of ppl with abilities to play in div 2.
