SAAFL vs Southern FL Farce

Great effort by the SAAFL no result on the web site!!!

We have to bust our humps as clubs to have this down by 5.30pm and yet at 7.10pm nothing on the web site.
Had to get the results off of the SFL Forum.

SAAFL only won by 3pts.

Once again this farce of only playing U/23 almost blew up in their faces.
Players who are not up to standard who only get a jumper because they are u/23 is a disgrace.

When will Shadiac and Co. learn it is a joke this form of state football.

Will the SAAFL impose a fine on itself for failure to lodge the result on the web site and return all previous fines to the clubs.

As if that would happen!!!!!!!!!! =)) =))

FE, they've probably all got their snouts in the trough somewhere and haven't bothered about the details.
Sounds a bit like the clubs are not getting "much for their buck!"
Don't clubs actually pay money towards a media fund, surely if this is the case, they have every right to complain

Always been the way one rule for them and one for the rest. Can't believe FC hasn't been on here yet to justify her beloved SAAFL.

I'm in no position to "justify" anything...

How about asking the person/persons that are in a position to do something about it? :?

What's the old saying? " If I had my way....."

Reading the country forum and our forum, State Footy or Rep footy seems to have really got some noses out of joint. Not only are we not seeing the best players available in our leauge but the country are having trouble with getting players to actually play. One post had an interesting idea.

Why not encourage the players to represent their league by offering a lucrative Best Players awards. Maybe Top 7 get some sort of payment. Obvioulsy money is tight and the idea of paying players to represent the league is not ideal. but i'm sure it would attract those players who might have a niggle or two, but like the smell of money even more.

Things need to change re state footy, i think the first open age State Footy game would have every player invited on the track trying to get a guernsey. I know certain players at my club would have done anything to represent the state over the last 5 years to get their photos up with the legends of the club in a state jumper.

Correct weight Turk!
This topic needs to be put on the agenda to have it discussed without fear of reprisal from anyone.
Clubs need to be canvassed and get it done through the correct channels, my club would be in agreeance, I'm sure a lot of other clubs would be too!

Any club wishing to take this to the next step should add their 2 bob's worth and someone will contact the clubs that are interested for further details in time to get it on the agenda for the next meeting.

Looking at the WAFL Under 12 comp to see who might be in the under 23 squad in 9 years. Good work Shads.

maybe instead of picking players for the hell of it from other divisions they should get at the coaches to encourage their players to have a crack (especially the a1 lads)...not saying there arn't god players in lower divisions but you would assume most of the side would come from a1 players no?

some players dont like the extra night of training and that is their excuse....

you would think that if they pick a side with all the scouts they have watching the games to get the squad together and have about 2 trainings the better blokes might train instead of not caring about going to 8-10 trainings to make a squad then a few more extra trainings?....

i dare say all the a1 boys have a fair bit to deal with at club level...

Very good point. If the selectors were getting around to all the games, and knew the names and positions of each Under 23 player on the ground, they shouldn't have to have 8-10 trainings to see who can kick. Surely it's better to see guys in game situations than handballing end-to-end anyway? There's a lot of guys who are good trainers but can't actually find the ball on the ground.
