Have to be honest tho pag, and your oval is both a great place to watch footy and a great place to play footy. No bias there when other clubs think the same.

Yeah, it's a nice view from the stand at Goodwood.

But anywhere where you can watch the game from the bar/balcony would be my pick.

Never played at goodwood, only played them once in 15 years, and that was at home. From the pics on their website tho, looks like a pretty good setup.

Goody Saints is good, Scotch also good. As per previous post, anywhere it's a bit raised is good...

being biased but heccies would be up there. balcony on the centrewing, good bar facilities and upward sloping hills surrounding the boundary giving a closed effect.

dont mind PNU (prob a lil bit similar to heccies) and really any oval with a balcony makes for good viewing with the exception of CLG (deep in the pocket and 20m from the boundary) but i guess thats because they are in pefect posistion for the baseball/softball field i think.

also would like to mention ttg and the big net they have behind the goal. makes it a hell of a lot easier when your a boundary ump!!!

Lockleys would have to be up there now, Goodwood just moved further ahead from it's lofty heights.

Balcony at Brighton is tremendous. Almost overhangs the center wing. Similar angle to the Audi Club view at Adelaide Oval.

Oh yeah, it outdoes the Bay.

I seen it from the outer during a night game earlier in the season, I wanted to go and have a look but wasn't sure if I could afford the admission fee.

Rostrevor's balcony is nicer in that it's sloped and has in-built seating, but is setback approximately 10 metres from the oval which makes it a marginally worse viewing experience than Brighton.

The long room at Adelaide Uni is brilliant as well. Always mean to get there for an A Grade district cricket match when the first class players are playing

Thanks for the shout out jo172. The original plans had the clubrooms and balcony set back a bit further than what it ended up. But we're really happy with how close the balcony reaches out to the oval and adds to the atmosphere. Also means the Dartfish TV footage of games at Brighton is excellent.

We could have had the sloped terraced balcony such as the Rugby Club over the back and Rostrevor and Goodwood, but the significant added cost would have meant compromising other aspects of the clubrooms such as the commercial kitchen. Plus it would have lowered the undercroft area where the changerooms, BBQ & Canteen are located, which wouldn't have been ideal. One negative with a sloped/terrace balcony, at least for footy, is that it virtually forces the punters to sit. Our balcony allows for standing and those high tables and stool that we have. So all up we have no complaints with the end result.

We just need to get the oval condition sorted now. All the heavy vehicles that were using the Northern end of the oval for access during construction plus the makeover on the oval surrounds has impacted the drainage. The very wet winter hasn't helped either. Some remedial work is going to occur during the summer so hopefully an improvement heading into next season.
