Best clubrooms to watch footy from? / Amateurs.

Postby pigdog » Tue Jun 09, 2009 12:41 pm

We have heard about the worst grounds, i want to know about the best clubrooms. Having played at many, imo, ingle farm has a great club, hope valley, tea tree gully, unley, even rosewater ;) . But try to say another club other than your own, so we can go and check them out.
Between me and my brother we know everything.

We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Lads, have we finally converted you or are you in love with one of the bar staff?

Ladies day on soon, you wanna see some hot chicks when they're full of "ink" now that is the time to be there! The menu changes from 'a la carte' and becomes a 'smorgasbord'

Having not played at all the grounds it's a little hard but here IMO is some of the better ovals to watch footy from.

Walkerville (Good Grandstand)
Payneham (Bar and balcony overlooking the oval)
Salisbury
Ingle Farm
CBC (down the one end)

Actually come to think about it, pretty much any club that has a grandstand or raised seating is pretty much going to be the best!

IMO Hectorville, Payneham and Walkerville are pretty good, a long time since I watched any at Ingle Farm but it should be good given the height above the ground the balcony is.
Gepps Cross under the verandah with a beautiful cold beer in the claw's not all that bad either.

You've got to be kidding about Uni, Bob wont let anybody up the steps in case they knock off a cucumber sandwich. It's forever roped off with "do not enter" signs, a bit like Monarto prison or the Long Room at Lords.

Oops, I wasn't aware of that since they are no longer in Div 1, I've had no reason to visit the establishment, but going back a while it was harder to get into that grandstand than it is to get out of Guantanamo Bay prison. The guard on duty made sure of that!
It's no wonder the grass in front of the grandstand is in pristine condition, no-one's allowed to walk on it. God help it if a possum decides during the night he wants a crap, Bob probably catches it before it hits the ground.

Obviously someone has bequeathed them a new set of steps for the grandstand then to replace the existing ones when people going up to the canteen have worn them out. Either that or the food van was repossessed.

Maybe it was paid for by the Ground Maintenance Govt funding being discussed on D2 forum

Walkerville
PNU to a lesser extent mainly because the oval is bent
Kilburn on the mound
Fitzroy - adds a bit of mystery to the game (ie) WTF is going on, over on the other side ;)

Salisbury is probably the most spectator friendly, grandstand on the one side and vacant car parking space on the other side. Ingle farms new clubrooms have had some positive feedback also, will look forward in checking them out when we head down there later this year.

I might be biased but I think our place is awesome. Spent the long weekend paving between the grandstand/visitors rooms and clubrooms as well, so it won't be a mudpit when it rains and hopefully more spectator friendly, especially during finals when the BBQ tent is there.

I've always liked Kilburn's set-up, Ingle Farm isn't too bad. Walkerville is pretty good, don't mind Pooraka either.
