Why is it so?

Postby aceman » Mon Aug 10, 2009 10:02 am

Noticed in today's Advertiser an article on Greenies and their "Breast Cancer" donation. Very commendable idea and well done to them on their foresight.
I also note they were wearing special jumpers which had been made by a "non SAAFL licensee" in Jax Sports. I believe they may have been given permission to make these for this cause, which leads me to the question.
"If clubs want to go down this path with special requests, now that the SAAFL has gone outside of their licensing agreement, what 'can of worms' have they opened by allowing this to happen?

So the jumpers got in on time then?

I got some artwork on the jumper during the week and it actually looked pretty good (for a pink jumper)

I hope they raised some good money from it anyway.

I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

So are they saying, find a worthwhile cause, apply in writing for special permission and go get them made by anyone you like? Is that how it is?

My answer was supposed to be "becuase they can".

Which is my answer to both questions - there is no reason - they simply just can.

Yes, but if the worthwhile cause is read "coz my club can save money" then that will not be accepted, it must be a real worthwhile cause!

Okay so my club needs new jumpers, we say we'll make a donation of $1K to Prostate Cancer Research which we do, do we then get the okay from the SAAFL to go to any supplier that is not a Licensed apparel supplier to the SAAFL which is the case in point here?
If not, why not, because that is what has happened here? Is this setting a dangerous precedent?

I want to know where they got the pink football from that was used in the first half? It looked like one of those $25 jobs from Target or K-Mart. Confused the shit out of me when it came flyin my way in the first 30 seconds of the game. I will also blame it for my inaccuracy in front of goal!

To put you all straight Jax sports donated to get the jumpers made,as well as many club supporters which they sourced a licenced supplier.

So are you saying Jax paid for the jumpers(their logo appears on them)but did not make them. They were made by another one of the licensed apparel suppliers?
Am I reading you correctly?

My earlier post which obviously went unnoticed or otherwise.

I dont believe there is an issue here no matter who donated or supplied the guernseys. Its for 1 game and for charity. Its pretty simple.

I'm with demonseye on this one, for 1 game & a bloody good cause i say play on.
Wasn't Jax Sports owed money from the Amateur League from last year & not a small sum?
Maybe its a way of paying them back.
