I just saw that in the paper, very sad. I had a little bit to do with him at Rivvies in the 90's. Fantastic bloke.
Taken way too young at 42.
Condolences to his family from everyone at the Portland Footy Club.

A fantastic bloke, good footballer and cricketer. Fantastic umpire and the best going around in D1 last year. Enjoyed playing both against and with him in sports over 20 years and the banter during the week was even more fun. Nicer bloke you would not meet. Makes you wonder about life a bit when such a good guy who never drank, smoke or anything was taken so tragically. A tragedy. All the best to Kath at this difficult time.

Tommy was a great bloke - Ferryden Parker through and through.
Dodgy netball umpire though....
Much love to Kathy and kids, Andrew, Pat and families xxx
Will be very sadly missed.

A great bloke Tommy, and a very competent umpire. A tragic thing to happen to anyone but at his age, far too young.
Condolences to his family and friends from the committee and members of the Gepps Cross Football Club.

I had the pleasure of working with him for the past 5 years, although he was out on the road and i was in the office, his rep as a quality umpire was warranted and he had the respect of the players, which these days you can cherish like diamonds.
I know he was held in the highest of regard at work also and the fleet are all on mourning and in shock that a bloke so young, and so nice, can be taken away from us all.
I wish his family all the best.

Very sad to see this. Played footy & cricket against the man, very likable chap and one of the better umpires if not the best over the last couple of years. Whether it was facing those looping offies or getting an earful when he was keeping, he was a great competitor. There was always 3 things to look forward too when playing Ferryden Park, batting on that deck, afternoon teas & having a laugh with Tom.

The Athelstone Football Club would also like to offer it's condolences to the family. Tom contributed greatly to our club in conjunction with Neil Rawlings and Charlie Wintle around the years 1999-2001 and it is hard to believe that he is no longer with us.
Vale Tom.
