I think you will find the SANFL/SAAFL have some big changes planned for the coming years which may ultimately cause a divide/split between "country" and "metro" footy. As far as I can tell from the past a north/south comp wont work especially at the higher levels.

Maybe look for some country leagues to go their own way away from the SANFL.

Glenunga to stay with SAAFL

PAOCFC could / would never consider a merger
