Recruitment policy

Postby Flipper » Thu Dec 10, 2009 6:20 pm

Ever club is desperately searching for that elusive player who’s going to lead them to premiership glory.
How do clubs find these players? How do they decide how much the player is worth to the CLUB?
I’m really interested to know if clubs especially in the higher grades, what their process for recruiting is. Majority of the time it would be a major risk to part with the clubs hard earned cash and resources, especially seen as a lot of blokes use footy as a part time job and may stretch the truth about there abilities. I would think clubs use a pretty stringent interview process?

CBC: Our recruiting is mainly done by the players. If interest is shown by the potential recruit its followed by calls from other players that might know them. Then a call from a board member. We don’t pay players or offer discounts in school fees. We would help out in other ways, apprenticeships or other employment the main bargaining chip.

I trust the 'powers that be' at your club disclose all of this in a dollar value with their Salary Cap return then!

SEE IT DOES PAY TO PLAY FOR THE O.S.
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Not lookin 4 a fight boys, just wanted to start some actual footy talk. Didnt think it was a revelation that a football club helped get one of its players a job.

I have no issues with payin players imo, cbc couldnt do it because of the size of the club n the financial pressure that comes with it (we dnt have clubrooms n pokies). Also the extra paperwork that comes with it and the potential it has to upset team harmony by puttin value on a player. I am just interested how clubs police this.

as a supporter of cbc i am hopin we can reach div 2 within 3 yrs. But the no pay policy may have to b reviewed.

Alby doesnt get paid. Playin under and socialising with dj would b worth a couple of hundread!

Flipper, you can not be successful in D3 without paying blokes - end of story. Some of the D3 clubs have football department budgets that would rival the GDP of Samoa.

fair call. Cbc do player awards every week so that is a form of paying players.

I heard a system for payin players where they have 3 pay catagories. Top 5, 10 then 15. at the start of the season players are put into each catagory on the basis of their expected performance. After 5 rounds this is reviewed and adjustments made. This can be repeated every 5 rounds.

Obviously the system can be tweaked. U can base it on recent form or form over the season. U could pay it weekly or a lump sum at the end of the agreed amount of rounds.

Me neither, just stating that strictly playing by the rules, jobs/salary should be disclosed under the salary cap rules if that is a condition under which a player is signed to a club.

have u heard of any clubs being audited? It would b near impossible to trace it back, then penalise a club 4 doing it. U said; if its in the agreement. So basically it has to be on a bit of paper in black n white? I know there is another thread bout this but while we on the topic here.

Sports An athlete who has never accepted money, or who accepts money under restrictions specified by a regulatory body, for participating in a competition.
