as we approach the last game of the first half of the season, its time to take stock of where players, coaches and teams are at
the questions are:
what team in what division has over achieved
what team hasn under achieved
same with players and coaches for that matter

and what do you think will leave the biggest impression for this season in the saafl

I think only two games separating 2nd and 9th in Div 2 is pretty unbelievable.

For me i've been disappointed with TTG & PNU.
I think SPOC have definately over achieved so far.
Div 3 seems about on the money so far, same with Div 4 except very pleasing to see Kilburn finally winning some games and creating some resistance!
Amazed that West Croydon are flying through div 5 after stepping up, but not really suprised, they were a good unit last season.
Brahma Lodge have been REALLY ordinary, and Lockleys have obviously struggled since moving up this season.
Div 6 and Central United have Exceeded expectations so far, as has Ingle Farm i think, the rest seem about right - although ive heard Glenunga dont look the side most people have been expecting so perhaps they are over achieving so far?
Div 7 is on track with what most punters wouldve gone with I think.
C1 Salis North massive fall from premiers to 2nd bottom.
C2 Obviously is Ovingham the big story and the big improver - although really was to be a little expected given the influx of players and some of the quality.

Player wise i dont get to see many since im playing - but big pickups seem to be Malbunka for Ingle Farm - played him last season when he was in the magoos at Lockleys and he really does possess some black magic!
Ovingham wise - Jason Scott is having a massive impact coming over from Lockleys, as is Owen Brady and Billy Hutchinson would have to be the find of the season - this kid is a gem!
Walkerville recruit Dom Barlow seems to be having VERY little impact down there.
I think in most grades/sides the usual suspects appear to be popping up each week.

same old smart arse reply
was looking at teams like CLG,LOCKLEYS,FITZROY,CBC,SASIBURY NORTH on the down side and teams like
WEST CROYDON,HECTORVILLE,ANGLEVALE,SALISBURY WEST,SALISBURY,ELIZABETHon the upside
hope valley would be disappointed as well
all these clubs for different reasons would be happy or upset

as for ovingham mate,we play in c division and i dont really think that anyone except for us care whats happening
with us

I think he is a bit tired of reading about Ovies in every second post. Yes Ovies have done a great job to be up and about this season, but lets look at it in a couple of years and see how strong the club is going then.

Guess i just get called a smartarse

div1- knew gaza would be good with all their in's. but im sure we'll see how good come finals.
div2- raggies only ones imo not in contention for finals and who ever the 2 are that go down will be very stiff! as has been said 2nd-9th are very even. with ROCS having to lose it imo. as their best is better then anyone else at this stage of the year.
div3- about on par with what everyone thought. SMOSH faulted 2nd half of the season last year but they seem to have fixed their depth problems. also i knew cbc would struggle losing hegerty and douglas but wow! also the rest of there list is old!! could be a long way back for the dolphins!
div4- actually surprised about scotch and kilburn as heaps left scotch and well, kilburn were just awful. but a few solid in have obviously help alot.

dont know much about other divs so wont comment.

I reckon change that to REALLY unlucky! Honestly division 5 is a very even and tight competition this season. BL have played in 3 losses under a goal and the other 2 were by 3 goals. In saying that we haven't won any of our games by big margins either. Take what you want from it but in reality we could be 0-7 or we could be 7-0 it is just such an even competition.

West Croydon have by far been the best side we have fronted up against. Well drilled and have some very good users of the football and are fit.

Having said all that the back 9 will bring about some unexpected and different results i would assume. Looking forward to it...

Angle Vale in Div 7 have really suprised me so far.
West croydon in Div 5 very well drilled team with a great coach in Matty McPherson
As for Salisbury North in the C1 it isnt a big suprise to me from some of the stories I heard.
Also with the influx of quality at North Pines I expected a little more.

They haven't surprised me at all, they picked up a few very handy players again from Smithfield to compliment their existing defectors. The also had some inclusions from the armed forces so I'm told. The kids that are getting A grade berths are pretty classy players and will continue to develop into very handy players, their B grade will become stronger in the next two years aswell.
Nice to see Meatbags Mathews kicking 8 on the weekend, not bad for a wingman, the bloke is a GUN, even more so now that he's forced West End to shut down their 3rd shift and done away with the Ezzie blues.

Div 1 - Cant see Gaza doing anything wrong. From all reports well drilled and look the goods. After a promising year last year Eastern Park are certain to drop but cant pick between Gepps, Salisbury North or TTG to join them.
Div 2 - Been surprised with PD. After dropping down and the word taht they were going to go staright back and where they are at the moment. They could drop again which could see them have more troubles.
Div 3 - FP and Smosh are rightfully the pace setters. After a lapse last week Mitcham jump ahead of us showing some good signs. Pooraka are a greta side and certain to play finals. We are still away from our best form. To think what it could be like if we can string a few things together.
Div 4 - Top 2 ahead of the pack by the comments and results. Relatively even from 3rd to 7th.
Div 5 - West Croydon huge surprise packet but 3rd to 10th could go either way.
Not too sure on the other grades but most of therm seem to be pretty even.

Don't be fooled Manbag, Elizabeth knocked off Scotch. Unley, Kilburn, Greenies & Heccies are all capable of turning it on aswell. I think this division has a lot more twists and turns to it yet.

Div 1
I think Broadview have disappointed me. Really thought with the extra points they received( everyone was giving them stick about it) they would really be testing the top sides. I think Phos have surprised me. Didn't think they would really handle the step up and would fight relegation but they have been quite competitive and could play finals.
Div 2
PNU have struggled since coming down so have Districts. SPOC have been the real surprise packet and PAOC have taken to div 2 really well.
Div 3
The top 4 are probably what everyone thought and any of the 4 could win it. Should be an interesting second half of the year. Pooraka and Seaton have been fantastic and could fight it out for that fifth spot. CBCOC with the loss of Douglas and Hegarty were always going to struggle. Pembroke were terrible on the weekend and I believe will go down to div 4.
Div 4
I'm glad to see Kilburn show something this year. Such a fantastic and proud club and don't deserve to be in div 4 IMO. I don't think anyone has really disappointed me in div 4 but then again I really havnt taken a huge interest in this div this season.
Div 5
West Croyden and Sailsbury West really have taken this div by storm and especially WC have really surprised alot of people. Plympton as it has been documented really struggles early but by the looks of things have got their mojo back. Roach is a big loss IMO. Hope Valley haven't really impressed but a few tight losses if they were wins would have them right up there, having said that 3-9 all on the same points and 10th a game behind so it's the tightest comp I've seen and could go either way.

Gotta say its funny cos at the time we were cheats, the fact that 2 of them have been playing B's and one is out injured with a fairly decent hammy strain, we haven't really used these points.
In saying that, our injury run in general has been disapointing. Form will hopefully pick up soon and everyone can crack up again about our points, i hope. Gaza are clearly above everyone else, i feel the other top 3 can be beaten, as for relegation, i think it is TTG and EP for mine.

Coaching kids and a bit of umpiring mate. The posting rate is slowing up now with no games to add my 2c worth.
